Just found this document on the IDA web site. Reading through the first section and it seems fairly up to date (maybe 2011).

I've read some totally disconnected research papers about the games industry in Ireland before. You know the type. All buzz words and little understanding. But this one so far in my opinion, is very informed and comprehensive.

Definitely worth a read for anybody interested in moving the games industry in this country forward.
