    Hi folks,
I somehow managed to damage the center speaker in my home cinema setup last night... I sat on the remote which quickly turned the volume all the way up to Max... the center speaker now sounds really tinny and echo-y, it definitely sounds like it was damaged. Bugger. The other speakers sound OK and when I swapped one of the  surrounds into the center, it sounded OK too.

The speakers are Jamo bookshelf (http://www.whathifi.com/review/jamo-a102hcs5) and they are paired with a Pioneer VSX-1018AH AVR. I've searched the web this morning and sadly it doesn't look like Jamo sell the center speaker individually.

Is it OK to mix and match speaker types/brands? I'm looking for a replacement center that will adequately replace my Jamo, perhaps even better it, and work OK with my existing Jamo satellites.... without breaking the bank. Any recommendations?

    Thanks
    Joe.

    HI JoeA3.

Sorry to here about the Faulty Center speaker.
I would not have a Jamo to replace the one that has gone faulty.

You could have a look at the Monitor Audio Vector Center which is priced at £49.95 (Black Only)
    http://www.monitoraudio.co.uk/support/past-products/vector/v20/

Cambridge Audio S50 priced at £99.95
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/centre-speakers/cambridge-audio/s50/camb-s50-blk

    Q Acoustics 2000Ci priced at £109.95
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/centre-speakers/q-acoustics/2000ci-grh/qaco-q2000i-graph

Monitor Audio BXLCR priced at £149.00

Let me know if any of these would fit the bill.

    Hi Kenny
Many thanks for the reply. The Monitor Audio Vector center looks like it could fit the bill. Black is perfect too as it would closely match my existing speakers and TV.

Is the speaker vastly inferior to the others you've listed - considering it is so much cheaper? What would the more expensive options give me over the Vector? I want a very good quality speaker but at the same time it needs to pair up with my existing small-ish jamo satellites and not overpower them!

And what would the total price be, delivered to Galway? I can arrange payment however suits best...

    Thanks!
    Joe.

    Hi Joe.

The vector is a good centre speaker, especially at the price we have it at although if the Jamo speakers are small satellite speakers than I would be a little hesitant to run with this as the Vector centre is designed to go with the Vector speakers which are very likely to be a lot larger than your speakers. The knock on effect of this is that the centre drowns the fronts.

I personally would have a look at the Cambridge S50 which is a much more sensible size and uses smaller drivers so it's likely to blend in better with the Jamo speakers. It's a great centre and comes in black or oak.

Delivery to Galway for any of the centres would be £12.99.

    Thanks

    Dave

    Thanks Dave,
OK, I'll take up your advice and go with the Cambridge S50 in black please! So how much in total then, delivered to Galway? Should I call or PM you my details? I bought an AVR off you guys a few years ago, but my address would have changed since then.

    Thanks
    Joe.

    Hi Dave and all,
I received the speaker this morning, thanks very much! It's a bit bigger than I expected but no problem, it still fits under the TV!

    Thanks again
    Joe.
