Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

On the M7 this weekend, noticed they have new signs every 500m, something like "M7, E, 52.5".

Obviously it's "Road, Direction, Distance", but anyone have any ideas why they are introduced. Seem utterly excessive to have them every 500m (which at motorway speeds is what, every 20seconds?

Probably just marker signs. They have them on motorways in most countries, this is just Ireland 'catching up'. Very useful for giving exact locations if you've broken down for example, and for emergency services.

As far as I'm aware, it's for the emergency services.

fixes your exact location, for emergency services and also for repairs. Interestingly they have these i the UK too, and they are in km!

I really hope so I came across an accident on the M4 a couple of years back and called it in but trying to give the location was a nightmare. First they wanted to know was I on the North or Southbound carriageway - I tried to explain I was on the westbound carriageway and then we settled that I was heading down the country then they started listing townlands and asking which I was in!
