Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Well Nigeria cant score them, themselves.

Good to see them score earlier but shocking defending from tahiti there.

You can shave that 0 right off.
Couldn't have made a bigger mess if they tried.

Nigeria are absolutely pants to be fair. None of their goals have been created themselves really. 1st was a ridiculous double deflection, 2nd came from a terrible pass in defence, 3rd was a gift from the keeper and 4th was an OG.
Tahiti will obviously be destroyed by Spain and Uruguay, but Nigeria will almost certainly do likewise if they don't show a massive improvement.

its embarrassing this Nigerian team, this is suppose to be the best team in Africa, it really shows how bad the standard is over there

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,672 ✭✭✭elefant

    That Ideye is absolutely muck

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,889 ✭✭✭tolosenc

These Tahititations are getting rightly stuck in.
What was the name of the lad who scored? you can add another 0 to his price tag.

    I'm hearing Monaco are interested...

Not a chance are Nigeria the best team in Africa. Same way Tahiti aren't the best in Oceania or Uruguay the best in South America.

I cant wait to see the Spain - Tahiti game.

It's a disgrace that a team as bad as Nigeria can be allowed into this competition. It demeans what should be a major championship.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,709 ✭✭✭shrewdness

Nigeria are embarrassingly sh!te up front. That's at least 4 or 5 clear cut 1-on-1's with the keeper that they've made an absolute balls of.

Edit: And yet they've still scored 6 with 10 mins to play. If Spain or Uruguay play at full pelt against Tahiti I dread to think what the final scores will be.

Tahiti aren't out of it yet lads..believe:pac:

Its only for a tired Tahiti side that Nigeria seem to be scoring now. They have been pretty awlful up to now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,526 ✭✭✭✭Darkglasses

Nigeria should keep their celebrations pretty muted, nobody's impressed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,887 ✭✭✭✭klose

Spain could play reina-valdes-casillas as their front 3 with cazorla in goal and theyll still score double figures

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,889 ✭✭✭tolosenc

If Tahiti were fitter this would be much closer.

They should put Valdes in goal. Give Tahiti a fighting chance.

Will Spain want to score that many goals against them. Might just start playing keepie uppys after 8-9.

Will its save to say Nigeria were pretty awful.

Tahiti in the end, came out of that looking pretty well.

Spain's objective should be to have every member of their starting 11 score against Tahiti.

Xavi has to play blindfolded though & everyone has to shoot with their wrong foot

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,097 ✭✭✭roanoke

Sadlier predicts Tahiti will be 'Mullered' on Thursday. I wonder does that mean 13-0 (Thomas) or 68-0 (Gerd)?

Strange movements from the Nigerian keeper for that goal! Moonwalking around the 6 yard box.

There's a massive difference between holding the ball at the back four compared to the corner flag. The corner flag leaves your options completely limited. Space is ridiculously tight so the most probable outcomes are throw-ins, goal kicks, corners or free kicks. You can't really develop a play or create space other than a limited 50/50 cross into the box.

Out the field you have the chance to move the ball around, drag players out of position or put your own players into position so they can hurt the opposition. It's slow and it's methodical but playing the percentages you're far more likely to create a decent attack from the middle of pitch. Conversely, you're also far more vulnerable to a counter attack. Which could also be entertaining if it's performed efficiently.

Spain's game is percentage based. Everything they do is based on the probability of them denying a goal to the opposition e.g Zonal Marking set pieces, and creating a goal against the opposition e.g refusing the standard "English" 50/50 cross. if they were truly into creating boring football they'd be playing less high risk football. One wayward pass and their high defensive line is very vulnerable to the counter attack. Against France in the home group game of the WC qualifiers they were 1-0 up with no time left on the clock. They kept it in the midfield and tried to create an attack. France intercepted the move, counter attacked and scored with the second last touch of the game. The last being the kick-off restart.

Yeah... think you may have missed my point...

    Great moment!!!!

With all the bullsh*t and arrogance that goes on in the game its great to see a moment like that.

Not meaning to be patronising, but while Tahiti were never going to be in any form of contention in this tournament, they put alot of so called top international teams from the past to shame in the way they at the very least had a go and went about their business in a positive way out of sheer pride for their nation (e.g unlike the likes of top paid professionals at top clubs like France were in 2010) .

I would hope they can keep the score down to single figures in each of the remaining 2 games but its a tall order.

Didn't get to see Tahiti play tonight, but based on their performance tonight and how good Spain were last night, can anyone actually see Spain hitting double figures?

If Spain want to, they will.

Also Ronnie Whelan just showed how much of a poor pundit he is. Saying Taihiti shouldn't be there and someone like Ireland or England shouldn't be there? Was he complaining when Shamrock Rovers made it to the Europa League?

    You know he probably was.

Ronnie Loves a good whinge, its what gets him through the day.
