Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Neymar keeps silencing the doubters, great free kick.

Nobody doubts his talent but i'd doubt his ability to stay on his feet.

The 'neymar haters be mad' stuff everytime he does something good is quite sad really.

Understandable to a degree given the attitudes of some on here before this tournament.

Questions about Buffon sure, but Neymar couldn't have placed it any better. It was right in the corner.

I think a lot of it was fair having only played in Brazil. Of course he's a great talent, but some act on here as if they spotted him when he was 12 years old.

    Even Lineker is at it:
MOTD presenter Gary Lineker, BBC Sport
"Oh I say!! Neymar bashers hang your heads in shame. What a talent. What a goal."

    :D

There have been people that have said he's very overrated though. Mind you on the other hand there are others who are incredibly over the top in their praise of him as one of the best in the world, which he's not yet. Personally I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle, but he is playing very well in this tournament.

Gone out for dinner. Heard Neymar has scored a goal. Its only the confederations cup people against Italy reserves. Chill the f*ck out..

    The man keeps on giving

Three goals in the Brazil Italy match whilst I have been watching Japan Mexico. Switching to Brazil Italy in the hope Japan might start scoring.

that's how they ref in Uzbekistan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

Oh no, that's a horrific decision.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,763 ✭✭✭Jax Teller

The ref blew his whistle before the goal was scored but still gives the goal ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,377 ✭✭✭Smithwicks Man

Can't believe the standard of refereeing in this game? Every single time Neymar was touched, a free was given. Every 50/50 decision has gone their way and Neymar has fouled 4 times since being booked without even getting a warning?

Another bizarre decision to blow for a penalty there and then give the goal? Balotelli would have scored the penalty anyway but this referee is a joke

    Shït game ges goood.

Awful refereeing, clearly blew the whistle therefore no advantage. Some headcases of refs in this tournament.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,017 ✭✭✭sReq | uTeK

The number 5 for Italy is just top ****ing class made Danny Alves look slow.

Ref had blown for a penalty and the ball went in after he had made the penalty call. Should've stopped the game and let Italy take the pen, not award the goal after play was stopped

Makes sense, Lawerson made me mute the TV so couldn't hear the whistle :pac:

    That ref loves smiling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,365 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

stupid decision from the ref, but Italy would've scored the penalty. Balotelli and all.

makes little difference in reality bar make a talking point.

De Sciglio is brilliant... Only 20 years old, playing as a left back even though he is primarily a right back!

God I ****ing hate ray Houghton

Its not that big a controversy. Its not worse then a goal being wrongly ruled offside. Glad to see the attacking team get an advantage from a foul in the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

First time for everything. When again are we going to see defenders arguing for a penalty against them?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,046 ✭✭✭✭~Rebel~

Will never understand why Fifa insist on these refs who are completely untested at this level at their showcase events. I know it's only the confederations cup, but that should be a reason to go for, say, the second best refs in the best leagues rather than some chap from Uzbekistan.

Not quite a first - Chelsea V Liverpool 2005. To be honest though, I don't think the Brazilians actually knew what the call was (free out or pen), they just knew the whistle had been blown and the ball went in after.
