Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Italy have given a good half but I expect Spain to turn things on now.

I made a bollocks of me post sorry. But I hated when some people used to act like him, Nesta and Seedorf were ancient at 29 or that. F'n hated when I heard it as a Milan fan.

The way Italy are playing now is much more beautiful to watch than when Spain are in full flow.

Ridiculous. They can only play like this because of how Spain play. Italy's system is re-active, Spain's is pro-active.

    Italy going 4-3-2-1?

    Ambitious.

Never mind, De Rossi going centre back...

This means that Italy now have 3 players capable of playing killer balls...

That doesn't make it more attractive to watch though. And yes, we know, you could watch Spain all day.

I bet Silvio hates it. 4-3-1-2 all the way like its 1993 baby

Italy much more a team when Baloteli not playing.

Odd that considering how brilliant he is. When he plays they have the option to lump it, not doing that tonight.

    Not sure why Silva started.

    He did absolutely **** all.

Also not sure what the logic is in giving players another 5 minutes after the half instead of switching at half time.

You say you love watching good football yet every post you make is defending Spain. Italy suffocated them and had 8 shots on goal. They have set up a game plan to beat a better team and so far are dominating them. You are so biased it's not even funny. I am sure if Spain win you will be in praising the performance but your are as quite as a mouse when Italy are dominating.

Italy's game is far more expansive and progressive if they use it more often. Well done Prandelli. The best form of defense is offence!

Ramos is up there with one of the most unlikeable players in football.

Are you even slightly capable of praising a team other than Spain/Barca? Italy have been all over them this entire game, nothing to do with how Spain are playing. And it might be ridiculous to you, but plenty of people enjoy this style more. Me included, and others here apparently.

Navas so quick, so very quick.

I enjoy Spain's style when they're doing it well. Tonight they aren't.

At one stage I had to check and see if Xavi was playing because I hadn't really heard his name. That's certainly never happened before for me!

you should be ashamed of such long ball nonsense.

yeah manages to run out of pitch very quickly.

If I was Prandelli I'd be thinking of bringing on Cerci for Gilardino.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,365 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

ha, look at them all run to the ref. fúck off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Finishing from both teams has been awful.

Slowly but surely the influence of Xavi and Iniesta grows.

SES for Marchisio and Cerci for Gilardino, those should be Italy's next two subs.

    Iniesta, yes.

Xavi, i don't know what the fúck you're watching.

    Fantastic defending via Piqué.

There is absolutely nothing proactive about slowly growing into a game.

Pippo Inzaghi moment. A bit Disneyish but he'd get some change from Pique and Raymoss.

    Fantastic defending via Piqué.

Had to be after the wide players got taken the piss of with a back heal and pull back to the near post from Italy's wide men,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,365 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

if Xavi is exerting influence, and Spain are pro-active, then I wonder what the fúck you'd call Pirlo and Italy tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Pirlo should be frozen in carbonite and be broken out for important games only. I never tire of watching him.

Alba is a joke of a defender.

He's not a fullback, he is being shown up for what he is here, a winger who got moved to cover a problem area and is adequate at best at the job. Greta going forward but absolutely no positional sense.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

LOLZ. What the fúck was that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,365 ✭✭✭✭SlickRic

Spain's problem here is their pressing has basically disappeared.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 18,300 ✭✭✭✭Seaneh

I really think it's just about SES and Cerci time... their pace would rip spain apart right now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,558 ✭✭✭✭dreamers75

Weird thing is either of these teams should easily beat Brazil.

    Candreva has looked great tonight.

Terrible feeling that mata could be the difference though and so far it would be undeserved.

taking off pedro for mata, leaving alba even more exposed... this is a dangerous move for spain...
