Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Like I said, football as it should be.

i love watching Spain, but this arrogant nonsense makes me want Germany to kick 7 shades of shíte out of them in the World Cup.

and yes, I didn't say "7" by accident.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,379 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

A reminder that we are watching, probably, the best international team ever, maybe the greatest team ever.

I thought that honour fell to Real Madrid?

Spain playing some really nice stuff so far.

Uruguay to get one against play probable then

Having the two Sergios, Ramos and Busquets, will always make a team instantly more dislikable as well :P

It's anyone though. You even have a special place for Hleb somewhere

Ehh no. At last count the Spanish lineup is made up of 7 Barcelona players, I'd also say the two best players in that half were Fabregas and Iniesta.

I actually quite liked Hleb, thought he was a very good player at Arsenal. His attitude hindered him at Barcelona.

Mark Lawrenson obviously doesn't have a clue Isco's over in Israel.

Lawrenson: "itd be nice to see Isco at some stage"

Then you might want to flick on Sky Sports on Tuesday night.

then you remember they retreated like every other side in the last world cup.

    Iniesta masterclass so far.

Doesnt have a clue, full stop. He'll never tell a football fan something that they dont already know.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

Uruguay's lack of effort tonight has been most disconcerting. Leaving aside Cavani and Suarez, they have enough class throughout the side such as Caceres, Alvarez and Gargano to make a game of this.

Forlan on now. If they can't make a go of it with that front line then they should just go home now.

    I do. enjoyed it actually.

I don't hate Spain in the slightest. I admire them greatly and enjoy their brilliance.

I hate superiority complexes though. some of their players, but particularly some of their fans, have it in spades. that's my issue, nothing else.

Goal! Goal! Goal! Luis Suarez scores a sublime goal that words will only serve an injustice. Is this possibly the greatest player to grace this planet? The perfect curve, the perfect strike. The Spanish are just mere inferior mortals in his presence.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Think that puts Suarez level with Forlan for all time top scorer for Uruguay.

A player born to play for Uruguay.

Try watching a match on Spanish TV with Spanish commentary. I'm a a big admirer of the team and how they play, but 90 minutes of listening to the most biased drivel you will ever hear means I now want them to lose every match they play.

    What awful referring

Why are they so bad. They have no ****ing sense

I'd have used essence instead of presence there Knex but its acceptable.

Piss easy for spain in the end

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 12,535 Mod ✭✭✭✭Amirani

Very much a justified win for Spain. They took it easy for large parts of the second half.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

The victory the performance deserved. Second half was more conservative possession but they kept firm control of the game, only a bit of worry with the Suarez freekick caused a few moments of concern.

The first half was a spectacular display of pure football, the second a lesson in how to control and manage a lead. This Spanish side have such quality all round, in every aspect of the game. A treat to watch this Spain/Barcelona side play, one which we can all look forward to over the course of this tournament.

I wouldn't go rating Germany just yet though against them..

They have won the World Cup and European Championships twice, if that doesn't give you a superiority complex, nothing will.

Utterly magical stuff from Iniesta. Uruguay started off chasing him and kciking him to no success and by the second half, they just gave up when he got the ball.

Why are RTE half an hour behind?

It doesn't look like the BBC are showning any of the games during the week. Maybe it'll be on the red button.

They have all the games, it's split between BBC Three and BBC One

Tahiti v Nigeria tomorrow night at 8pm on BBC Three
