    New customer to eircom. 

    Was told by the service rep that my bill would be 45 for the first six months, However having had my line in one week before receiving the modem I get stuck with a charge of 30 euro line rental followed by 45 euro for the broadband package for what is in effect the first 5 weeks of service. 

    Is this common practice to get extra money out of consumers?
