If you are purchasing in July/August I know for a fact the lads here who put together the build will tell you to come back around then. Parts more than likely would have changed by then :)

I've been told current gen CPUs and GPUs will be much cheaper by then, so I may opt for what will be outdated at the time because they will do what I need and I will be able to upgrade in the future. I have read that the 760 won't be much better than the 660 so I may just get a 660

    Hello

I hope this request is in the correct thread!

Our 14 y.o. son wants to buy his first gaming PC and I asked him to write out the spec he is looking at when we asked him the cost and he told us about €700 without the monitor (apologies for any obvious errors in typing out his list below!). I have only a basic understanding of computers so I have no idea if everything necessary is on this list or if he is missing anything obvious (does not have anything required at the moment) or if this is good value or not. We had not intended spending anything like this on a PC but he is seriously interested in computers and says this would last for many years with this spec. Any tips/advice/other better value recommendations really appreciated:

    8 GB Samsung RAM
    2 GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX660
AMD FX-4130 Quad Core CPU (3.80 GHz/4 MB Cache)
    1 TB 3.5" Sato-III 6 GB/s HDD 7200 RPM 32 MB Cache
24 x Dual Player DVD Writer
Internal 52 in 1 card reader and 1 USB 2.0 port
450W Quiet 80 plus Dual Rail PSU and 120mm case fan
Onboard 8 channel (7.1) high def audio
    Wireless 802.11N 300 mbps PCI-E card
    2 x USB 3.0 and USB 2.0

2 day delivery to Ireland, 9-11 day building time, Metro: Last Lite game free
597 pounds total (pcspecialist uk afaik)

Hi john, if you could make a new thread filling out the questions above in the first post with your own answers then we could help you build a similar pc for less.
