    I'm looking for a present for a friend who's getting wed next month. I was hoping to get a painting of something local. Is there a gallery open in Waterford anymore or any artists worth checking out?

    There are some fabulous framed photographs on display in The Spinnaker in Dunmore East.
    A lot of storms, snow etc of Dunmore by a local photographer. (Sorry, can't recall the name).

    a lot of art for sale in some restaurants such as bodega and l'atmosphere + others. There is a specific art sale happening on the railings around christ church cathedral some saturday in the near future, think early to mid june possibly. That would be an excellent place to find a nice painting. You could also try greyfriars who often do local or Irish exhibitions of specific Irish artists. There is also a new craft shop on the quay that do local/irish all kinds of art stuff, sculptures etc
