Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Friend is pregnant - what should I give her?

A girl who has been living with me has just found out she is pregnant - no, it's not mine!

I would like to get her something she would find useful. Last time in the UK, I got the expectant mother Mothercare vouchers but don't know if the store exists in Ireland?

For all the mothers and mothers to be out there is there anything you could have really used at the beginning? I am looking to spend up to €150 but am sure you'll agree it would be a bit distasteful just to put cash in an envelope!

You could ask her is there anything she needs & go from there. Yes theres mothercare here so you could get her a voucher & she can choose what she likes.

if you're looking for something for the baby - I cannot recommend this enough:

    http://umamma.ie/store/babycare/doomoo-seat-splash.html

Friends of mine went together and bought it for me when I had our first - and I used it ALL the time. I used it again on my 2nd all the time and it'll be the first thing coming down from the attic when number 3 arrives shortly. You can only get them in umamma off at the n11 and they are amazing.

If you are looking for something for her - you will not go wrong with a mum to be spa package.....

While I really appreciated all gift, particular favourites were, pregnancy massage. For baby it was the practical things. I got a hamper made of baby products a year later I haven't had to buy a single thing for bathing, etc. I would have been guilty in the past of buying present when looking back probably weren't particulary useful however now after having a baby myself its practical ones all the way!

theres a book .... not 100% on the title but its something along the lines of a best friends "what to expect when being pregnant" or something like that - it tells the pregnant person lots of unknown or not talked about stuff.

for example - the taste of "down there" changes - something to tell the OH incase it frightens him or that he thinks there's something wrong.

I imagine they both have bigger issues on their mind but thank you all the same!

Sincere thanks to everyone for sharing their thoughts, this morning I am putting together a hamper based on your suggestions.
