Won't read SD card

My HTC won't read or acknowledge my SD card, it had when I first put it in but my dog knocked my phone over and since then it wont work, its acting as if there's no SD card in it at all, i tried turning the phone off and on taking the card in and out but nothing works, any suggestions?
