Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm currently using an electric strimmer at the moment, but it only cuts about 2ft of grass before the battery goes on it and then it's a two day charge to get it going again,
Anyhow is there a petrol strimmer on the market that wood be as light duty as an electrical one. My borders have small stone pebbles in them and I don't want to knock them off and have to recement them back,

Well you could go for an electric one rather than your rechargeable.. they are light for carrying and easy to manuver.. And provided they are used with an RCD they are perfectly safe..

Ah just less hassle with a petrol strimmer no cables to drag around.
    Thanks:-)

Petrol are actually more hassle, they can be a nusiance to start especially after being left in the shed for 9 months. Also there is trips to garage for petrol and oil.

Forget the electric one. Get a petrol one, no problem starting, even after the Winter lie-up. Have had one with no problems for four years.

I've a petrol myself but they're not for everyone..
My mum who's 67 finds the electric strimmer handy. Its light, no pulling to start and she has independence to do things for herself.. In fairness the cable is no bother if your not covering a large garden.

We shouldnt try to push the same solution on everyone :)

I'm defo going petrol, I'm just trying to find out is there different horse power, if that's the right terminology,
Or are they all the same?

Petrol strimmers tend to range from 26cc engines up to 52cc engines.

Obviously the bigger engine will do more damage to the weeds and long grass!
