A while ago now Rabbites XL shop in lower Salthill changed their deli counter into a take away Indian place. Very good food at great prices compared to other Indian take aways around town. Avg €10 per main inc rice.

I was there today (peak time), saw those guys, but it didn't seem to me that any "wayward parking" was occurring.
That's because those two were there d'oh!
They are also assisting customers with trolleys.

Aldi east has two guys in hi-vis outside the store presumably to deal with wayward parking - I assume this is because Aldi west is temporarily closed..

Aldi Westside is opening up again this Thursday 28th btw

Hosty's pub on Bohermore was closed when I walked past just now. No sign on the door, but Mr O'Bumble had heard from reliable sources that the lease was up last Sunday night.

Also Sweet Retroo, the Polish cake / waffle / icecream shop at the bottom of Shop St is closed. Sign on the door says until 1 September for renovations.

Nothing lasts long in that premises - isn't there some sort of long-running ground rent dispute or similar?

Theyve been there at least the last 2 years and always look pretty busy.

They seem to be the most successful business to be there since Mario's

I noticed that yesterday, all right. Is it closing altogether, does anyone know?
    It's closing.

    Source; a member of staff.
There was an article about the closure in yesterday's City Tribune, too.
Re-opening soon, more along the lines of how it used to be.

    Bring back Snack Box.

I once bought a snackbox of cocktail sausages and chips covered in gravy.

    The perfect drunken nosh.

Aldi west reopened this morning. Deceptively spacious and sleek for a supermarket.

Insanely busy in there today! But I'm glad to have them back.

Really, Aldi is fancy now ?

Well, it's still Aldi, they're pretty much all the same. But it's a big improvement on what it was, space-wise anyway, and it looks a bit ... newer.

Me too, I'm in there every Sunday and it had become a miserable experience the last year or two due to it's insane popularity and the fact that they are always restocking and hogging up the aisles. It had become a claustrophobic experience as you inched along stuck behind a woman with 8 kids. I rate shopping there just behind Monkey Business on a busy day for most accurate depiction of hell on earth.

    But the savings!

It's big and spacious now, but the claustrophobic experience now happens trying to exit the carpark.

Went in today and there was a queue of about 40 cars trying to exit. That side of the junction on SQR is a disaster.

Think they need to open another Aldi in the city west.
