We were planning on heading to austria this year but with a mix up with dates we will not be able to attend the event we were going to attend (long story)
We now have the ferry booked for the 2nd week in Aug i know its hi season im now thinking of staying round Vendee and keep the amount of driving down,i would appreciate any pointers to a nice sites in them parts we have 20 days so we are thinking two 5 day stays with the rest on aires
Our preference would be a not to big beach site in a small town or village,we normally travel in september so never book but i will need to book for Aug

there is another site right next to there le clargs plage. we stayed there two year ago but they don't take bookings for tourers its on a first come basis bit of a risk.

Stayed in Zagarella in St Jean De Monts and it was nice (though tumbleweed quiet at the time - early June).

La Garangeoire is fab, a bit further south but not too far & a bit inland, so not exactly what you've said but I dont think you'd be dissappointed - maybe a bit pricey.

Also check out Noirmoutier, lovely island/town, drive out there on a causeway, some "rustic" looking camping around there, could be v nice.

does Les Pirons get many Irish in June? or is predominately French on the campsite?

How far in reality is it to the nearest beach? drive or walk?

    many thanks.

Eleovic near Pornic is a very good campsite, more in the Loire Atlanic than Vender but near enough. Nice secluded small south facing beach outside the gate and 10 minute walk at most to Prefailles village. Can recommend it.

Have a look at Camping Indigo on Normoutier, e.g. see TripAdvisor. Stayed there 2 years ago with 2 young grandchildren. All thought it excellent.

We've also booked here for 12 nights in August. Reviews look good and there seems to be plenty to do within walking distance.
