Yeah you could spoiler that and any other Mania plans. Not everyone wants to know.

I've put a spoiler tag on it for you :)

Might be better to get a Mania thread going if you want to talk about a rumoured Mania match. Given the Rumble is coming up, we'll probably need it soon anyway.

Was watching a React video with WWE Superstars where they had to turn away from WWE moments. One moment was Edge Spearing Jeff from the top of a ladder and Charlotte said she knew the clip well because she wanted to do it in their ladder match. Never knew that and wonder why it didn't happen.

Probably because Edge admitted since that he basically DDT'd himself doing it.
Looking at some of the spots in that match they made the right choice.

I find I think bonkers that Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart has never had a singles match on a WWE or WCW PPV

I was going to say have you seen him wrestle and then overheard myself say....Mongo.....Mr. Hughes, Oklahoma and other luminaries.

Is Bray Wyatt ever gonna return I wonder?

I know he wasn't everyone's cup of tea but I really liked the character

I suspect they're saving him for a return at the Royal Rumble.

    Never, hopefully.

People posted rants here recently on Carmella and Orton. You can copy and paste them, multiply the vitriol by ten and then apply it to Wyatt for me.

Guy is the drizzling fúcking shíts of wrestling. If I was watching Raw and he was on the screen and someone walked into the room, I'd switch to hardcore pornography. It would be less embarrassing than being caught suffering through one of his promos.

I actually think his promos are the best part of his character. It's the only thing that keeps him from being stale for me. His promos kind've remind me of Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Raven.

So is SD definitely moving to Fridays?

Will that help with the worst ratings of all time and half empty arenas?

I guess attendances might pick up with it being the start of the wkend but viewership could dip even further. Friday in the States is considered the place where tv shows go to die. What were the ratings like the last time they ran Fridays?

Interestingly AEW have trademarked the name 'Tuesday Night Dynamite'. Lets see what they can do in the same slot.

That hasn't been the case for years now.

Friday night TV in the States get great ratings these days.

Who is going to watch AEW, other than the people who are currently watching WWE?
(And the people who watch WWE aren't watching it anymore, if that makes sense.)

  • Registered Users Posts: 29,014 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

People who watch RoH, NJPW, Impact, Lucha Underground plus those who are curious.

Would make you think. Are there any “casuals fans” now a days and who are they?

Pretty much all the wrestling folk I know have been fans their whole lives.

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,478 ✭✭✭brianregan09

I will definitely be one of those tuning in to AEW , it's up to them to keep me, and the rest of there intial audience

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 502 ✭✭✭sirmanga

The way I see it, AEW's audience will be comprised of a small percentage of people who currently watch WWE. AEW won't attract anyone else.

Some people talking about the casual fan tuning in. I don't see it. Say the names "Cody" "Young Bucks" "Kenny Omega" to a random person on the street and they won't have a clue who they are.

And besides, are there really many "casual" wrestling fans left? There were about ten years ago. But they are gone now. WWE have almost filtered their audience down to the hardcore base. They have made themselves a niche product, albeit a very profitable one.

Besides, I don't think WWE care about the casual fan anymore, they know they have at least that core audience who will watch every week no matter how awful the show is, and the company is more profitable than ever. This has been proven in recent months.

And what about all these people who claim they don't watch WWE anymore, but instead watch NJPW and ROH?
Please. Most fans say that to sound cool. Give them a ticket to Mania and they'd break down crying. I'm sure there are people who just watch NJPW and ROH, but you could fit them all in your grandmother's kitchen.

Yes, the announcement of AEW is exciting, but only for us wrestling fans. And that's it. Nobody else cares, therefore, nobody else is going to watch it. It's a bit like when a family member announces an engagement or pregnancy. There is wild excitement among the family and close friends. It's all they talk about.
But everyone else; they don't care. And why should they?

Funny you should say that. I just watched WrestleMania 15 on the Network and it's in Philadelphia. Front row you can see Hat Guy, Faith No More Guy et all going wild. These were the same boys in the front row at every ECW show sh*tting on WWF and chanting you sold out to people getting their break there.

Still a sh*tload of people watching WWE live in the States especially when you compare to major sports

I can be considered a casual fan. I used to be big into it back in the attitude and ruthless aggression days up until about WM24, insofar as Smackdown was on TV every weekend and I'd watch it whenever it was on -- Smackdown was the rage back then (early every Saturday morning and occasionally new episodes at or beyond mid-night), followed by televised episodes of HEAT on Sundays. Since the Ruthless Aggression era passed I lost interest, but always curious enough to keep a loose eye on how things have gone in the present day, checking results, watch the odd PPV or match that interests me, but otherwise making no conscious effort to keep up with it on a weekly basis like I used to. In short, not a real a 'fan' in the full context of the word (never been to a live-show, never purchased any merch, never went beyond TV or Internet for a wrestling fix), but watch it more than enough to not be considered a non-fan.

I think that sums myself up as well. Would read the results but rarely actually watch it anymore.

Its driving round in a big oval. I don't get the excitement myself.

Nascar is huge in the south especially.

Interesting graph on politics and sports. Pro wrestling is funny because all the owners are Republican and vast majority of us wrestlers are too but fans are Democrat..no wonder we see such a divide between owners and fans (Khan's donated to Trump also)

I've become a very casual fan over the years, there's almost nothing that WWE does anymore that interests me, I'll watch the Rumble and parts of Wrestlemania and that's it. Gave up on TNA years ago, and don't watch any of the other promotions since they aren't really the full top level wrestling package as far as I can see, seems like they are just in-ring focused. So far at least AEW has managed to attract my interest, and I'll check out the first reviews for sure, but whether I actually watch it will depend on what kind of promotion they are

Watching the 2004 Rumble and the sight of Nick Patrick got me thinking. Post wcw, the refs did alright. Charles Robinson could be the only person to have come from wcw to still be with wwe. Solid ref in fairness to him

I see Sasha banks is the guest on the edge and Christian podcast this week. I'll take a pass of this episode. I mean the episode will be -Eddie guerrero is her hero- Halloween havoc 1997 Match - she's a legit boss etc - snoop dog is her cousin etc.

Sasha Banks and Bayley are instant channel changers for me. I just don't care about them at all.

Which is a pity as their nxt brooklyn match was fantastic, i actually got a bit emotional watching it, I cant remember the last time i felt like that watching wrestling.

To be honest i was never a fan of womens wrestling as I was just a wwe guy and it was never presented as a serious contest really, but that match made me care.

Such a shame they are currently floundering.
