IMO I think people are getting sucked into the marketing hype around this fight...

I cannot see how Fury has much of a chance against Haye, Fury is being blown up to be the next big thing for some reason were clearly he is no were near a Heavyweight world champion level, this will be a handy nights pay packet for Haye who i think will stop Fury within 6 rounds fairly easy enough.

I think people are looking far too much into the knockdown by Cunningham and writing Tyson off as chinny, he was clearly play-acting and over confident in the lead up to the knockdown and if you watch his feet position he's square on and his right foot isn't even planted on the floor

I think with Peter Fury in his corner this time round he'll keep a lid on Fury, Tyson himself knows this is his acid test and won't leave his chin out to dry and will stick to the gameplan especially in the early rounds

Not everybody is to be fair, there are still tickets available for this fight even though Adam Booth claimed it was the fastest selling fight david haye had been involved in.

Haye is a level above Fury and i also believe an early-ish stoppage is the most likely result here.

Sky are taking the piss already with this fight at €21.95 if you order before midnight on the 27th is bad enough...but if you get the fight on the day the price is jacked up by €5 for some reason.

That's disgraceful isn't it. I think it may just be for phone bookings on the day, but nonetheless, €21.95 is too much as it is.

Thanks for the warning. I will get it. I always say I won't and then I do.

Keep an eye out for it lads, i think its only for phone orders though according to the website so if you have the full sky services with your broadband running you might dodge this fee if you leave it late.

Looking forward to this, should be a cracker.
Definitely a fight that's worth paying simply because of the people who are involved.
Really hope Tyson can win but he's definitely up against it.
I reckon if he can avoid getting knocked out in the first 6 rounds he may be able to sneak it on points.

Gonna chance a sneaky 10er of fury on points @ 9/1.

How do you figure its worth €21.95 for this fight..its a piss take.

Because with David Haye and Tyson fury anything can happen and not just in the ring.

Its a good fight i wont argue against that ...but €21.95 is absurd. Another question would be why is there a 15% premium on the irish fans for this one..£15 for the Uk which coverts to €18?

Typical nonsense from sky, it will be a purchase from me but not a hope for the froch v groves fight.

Not really looking forward to this fight at all.

Either way, no matter who wins, the Klitschkos will have emails on the Sunday.

I wouldn't say that based on 90 seconds of edited footage of Haye winging several looping overhand rights at the likes of Wach and Dimitrenko. Would have loved to see the unedited footage of the Wilder sparring though! Haye rattled him with that right at 1:06 but Wilder got his own right hand that done the same at 1:12.

Could easily see Haye stopping Fury early but if he doesn't and the fight drags into the middle rounds that extra weight Haye looks to have put on in this camp will hamper him.

I'm not sure it's being shown here in Vancouver, so I might try and get a link for it. I'll be interested to see who wins, although I do think it's Hayes to lose.

This makes no sense at all, haye has always packed on extra muscle for heavyweight fights and its yet to hamper him in anyway around the middle rounds.

As I said the weight he put on in this camp. He has weighed in at 210 for his last three fights and will be weighing in approaching 220 for this one judging from interviews with Adam Booth and its clear to see he has bulked up for this fight from the various media he has done in the last few days.

To be honest if adam booth said it was raining i would pack away my umbrella.

I dont think haye would be to impacted by an extra 8-10 lbs as since the thompson fight its vey hard to question his conditioning and if put on the right way it makes me more confident of a victory for him.

I just think the lack of ringtime is going to catch up to him sooner rather than later and the addition of 10 pounds will hurt him if the fight goes long. I still have the image of him blowing so hard against Chisora in those 4th and 5th rounds.
But yeah if we all had the same opinions it wouldn't be very exciting! I just hope Fury doesn't get taken out early as I have shelled out to head over to it next weekend and don't want a short night!!

Yep, he got 6 stitches, probably not going to happen until Feb now

Ah bloody hell, was looking forward to the fight. Is that the second time in succession?
Is Haye running scared or is this legit?

Looks bad enough. Getting injured in his training camps is becoming a regular occurrence!

I would have thought that all the sparring would have been completed by this stage.

He's on sky saying it was his final sparring session & got it in the 2nd round

I'm glad, this should not be PPV, Haye has stunk out Boxing fans with non performances to many times to be PPV and it just hurts the sport of Boxing.

Rush Boxing club and Rush Martial Arts head coach.

Haye stinks. Its sucks because he has huge power and great potential, but instead of cleaning out the division (bar K2) he talks rubbish and then doesn't deliver.

PPV is more to do with hype and names, not quality. And, Haye and Fury are big names on these isles. That is PPV. Added to the fact that it's at HW, and both are English!

    Exactly!

People getting carried away and confusing PPV with ability. It's all about entertainment and the demand for it. These are two very big characters in the boxing world in the UK, if sky believe people are willing to pay for an event then it becomes a pay per view event.

Find it nice and ironic that he said his sparring partners would beat Fury, turns out they can beat you as well, David.

Seems there won't be a rearranged date now.
Peter Fury has stated that they will move on & not fight Haye.

Peter Fury has stated that they will move on & not fight Haye.

He came out very quick to say that. I dont think they ever wanted the fight, but tysons mouth got him in trouble on channel 5

Peter Fury has stated that they will move on & not fight Haye.

Seems they have quickly retracted fom that & now seem to want to wait for Haye.

It's about the only logical fight for Fury as he probably isn't on Klitchko's radar & he has too much to lose if something went wrong against Chisora or Tony Thompson. He probably afraid to step in against Deontay Wilder & see's Haye (rightly or wrongly) as he best shot to get a title oppurtunity

That is a load of shite, people can say what they want about Fury and about how they dont like him but he wouldn't duck anyone and wants to fight the best. Of course he wanted the fight.

He clearly got caught, and if it required stitches, I would wage a decent bet that the fight would have been stopped.

Also find it odd for him to be sparring this heavy so close to the fight.

Its not odd at all to be sparring this close to a fight, paul smith and tony bellew were saying that if you spoke to any of the top pros its not unusual to be sparring 3-4 days before a fight.

Pity this fight is off though the real losers are the fans..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 57,372 ✭✭✭✭walshb

I'm not sure why folks think it's odd to be sparring 8-9 days before the fight. Not every boxer follows the same routine. It's not an exact science. You can get cut from even a light sparring session. These guys are HWs.

You got me wrong, im a fan of Fury. Im not convinced on his boxing skills, but he has heart, and a mouth, which is what i think the heavyweight scene needs.
About him wanting to box the best, i still think its too early for him. He could have had bigger fights than he has had but he didn't.
I just thought Peter came out very quick. Now hopefully il be proved wrong and he'll get a big fight in the coming months.
