I want to start freelance business as a writer, proof reader and copy editor. I won't be starting the business for another year but I want to keep the business name I've thought of before it's taken.

I'm studying/unemployed at the moment so I'm wondering; will I be put in different tax bracket as soon as I register?

You can register a business name as an individual and you have no obligation to trade or even use it. Once you start trading you are obliged to register with Revenue as self employed etc. until then you have no obligation to make other than the normal personal tac returns.
