We've had our dog about a month now, and as she's got more confident, she has started to bite/mouth in a playful way. Thing is, it can hurt a bit at times!
So I really want to nip this in the bud, and have been looking up a few suggestions to stopping it.

What are opinions here on the best way to stop this behaviour?

    Is she a puppy/how old?
    What breed?

If shes a puppy, try 'yelping' when she does it, and she will understand that shes hurting you. If this doesnt work, say NO! loudly. Mouthing/biting if shes a puppy is part of play. Have a toy for her to grab and play tug-of-war with you (old socks are good) Get her some good chew toys at the pet store. She may be loosing her puppy teeth, so biting and chewing is part of that process too.

If shes grown, try the yelping trick too, and again its part of play. so some rough and tumble with toys and rags will change that tendancy. She wants to play with you, so some balls/toys etc will use up some of that energy and both of you will have fun discovering what kind of toys she likes best.

(Be aware that you can create a 'monster' in this process - one of my dogs has an absolute obsession with balls - it can get very wearing very quickly :o!!!)
