Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Germany really should be level. Volland terribly unlucky just there.

You could see when the Dutch came out they thought they had it already won. Damn nearly a equalizer, its all Germany now. The dutch looking a bit flaky at the back.
Btw Blind playing makes me feel old I remember watching his Dad.

Jozefzoon should have rounded the keeper and it was game over.

    Aye. Good save nonetheless though.

    Holtby, 2-2.

The Dutch really have thrown this away. Awful attitude in the 2nd half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Lucky Lewis! Some finish from the man, especially on his weaker side.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,477 ✭✭✭✭Knex*

Not many teams in this tournament will be able to bring the likes of Depay and Fer off the bench. Dutch really do have a great squad this year.

Cracking goal from Holtby, for me the best player on the pitch today. It's almost a shame he chose Germany given the players ahead of him in that position.

The Dutch, while a technically very good side, lack heart and conviction. They've stopped playing in the second half, they've not had the bravery to get on the ball, they've shown themselves to be weak.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,469 ✭✭✭✭GTR63

Germany might nick this Holland have been really poor in the second half, Midfield have dissappeared and the defence shown up. Germany nearly deserve the win.

He wouldn't get a game with England at least under current management anyway they don't put enough emphasis on technical ability

3-2 to Holland! Fer with the header.

Had a feeling they'd nick it.

FT: Holland 3-2 Germany. A game of two halves, etc, etc.

I vaguely remember me and I think GK talking about him briefly ages ago in the LFC thread. Very highly regarded in Holland and is the star of the Alkmaar team without a question of a doubt and has been likened to Fabregas. Been talk of City being interested but he wants to move to either Ajax or PSV going by past comments.. If Eriksen leaves Ajax, I expect him to move to Ajax.

Feel sorry for Germany the Dutch remind me of the senior side okay when they have the ball but limited without it. Bit of a let down in the midfield tbh given the experience they had in there with Strootman who looks to be in the Van Bommel mould.

Dutch performance was disappointing to be honest. They had what seems an almost full strength team and to be honest they got out of jail to win that one.

Very good when he plays- great creative brain. He has loads of potential, but unfortunately is made of glass and is injured almost constantly.

He was injured again yesterday I hear. Fantastic.

Problem for the Dutch u21's is on the bench. Manager is clueless.
Left it way too late to bring Fer on and why on earth the most constant midfielder in the Dutch league, Clasie, was left on the bench no one knows.

At one point there was talk that Van Gaal would be doing this tournament and while not exactly a Van Gaal fan, i wouldnt have hesitated to put money on Holland @8 (pre tournament).

Manager will cost hem the championship.

Norway go 1-0 up against England. A bit against the run of play, England had started bright.

Norway go 2-0 up. Looking very weak in defence. Zaha is not a striker as well.

That's Pearce for ya, the sooner he's gone the better for England youngsters

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,868 ✭✭✭Andersonisgod

What a remarkably poor team this England side is. Not of the technique, quality, tempo, passing and collective understanding of some of the teams we've seen so far in this tournament like Spain, Italy, Netherlands and Germany.

Did I read that he was threathening German players at the final 4 years back, think it was in world soccer or something.
Its a poor english side all the same no matter how many excuses Martin Tyler makes.

Its bizarre that he seems to be so good at qualifying them.
4 comps, 4 qualifications ; in that time Germany, Holland, Italy, France and even Spain with their youthful conveyor belt have all failed at least once.

Its a really good achievement, which makes the outcome in the finals all the more disappointing.

If Pearce can ask for a loan of a few players from Norway.
Seriously though they seem almost on another level in the composure stakes and Norway are no super power.

He can't be as bad up top as he has been in defence.

Was using the bbc live updates and earlier they mentioned Pearce throwing on David James up front, seems he he tried the same with Caulker. He blame all the players missing now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,463 ✭✭✭Kiwi_knock

He already mentioned midweek that their poor performance would be due to the amount of players missing. No excuse, he should be doing a lot better with that squad.

Insigne is a bit like Zola because everything we do always comes back to the premier league.

Shame, it was a good game but now Israel down to 10 men, bit of a harsh sending off.

Impressive 3-1 win tonight by Norway Under 21 against Jurassic Park Under 21. The next generation of dinosaurs does not look promising.

Did Insigne get injured in that game or was the substitute tactical?

Injured AFAIK. Was outside when happened, but I heard his ankle gave way or something along those lines.

Netherlands deserve that, at least they are trying to win unlike Russia who are being defensive

Insigne should be fit for the semi's.
Just watching now the dutch have gone up 1-0 with a PES like long range shot.
