Yeah sub x back into the original and solve for t (It was 0 I think?) Then sub in t to get y and then you get the equation.

    I think I got 2x + y = 6

I got the same answer as you *hi5*

Was a lovely paper overall hopefully I will get an A :D

I think you'll find 1+(n+1)(n-1) and n^2 are the same thing.

    I just got n^2

    I got that aswell!!! :D maybe I didn't fail :O

surely that was worth a good few marks :P

It didn't ask it specifically, I just put it down over the table

So there was no marks going for it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 850 ✭✭✭0mega

Where did it ask this? Think I must have missed it. :(

It didn't but the type of sequence helped with some parts.

    Nope,

what did ye get for area under 1st qudarant thing? I got 4?
Then 8 in total due to axial symettry ?

Didn't it give you the formula for one of the parts as an2 + bn + c?

Yeah I said that was a quadratic but for the matchsticks at the start when I de-constructed the series it turned out to be cubic. I don't think it actually answered anything, I just thought it was neat.

i got 123 small triangles for the last one by putting the equation given in the previous part equal to 4310 (or however many matches it was) and using minus B formula

What answers did you guys get for the 3 simultaneous equations?

    1-4 were great.
Matchstick one was questionable, think I got most of it until the last part.
Tickets one was great, enjoyable (as sad as that sounds), except I didn't get (g) fully out. I'd imagine I got a fair few attempt marks though.
    7 & and 8 were grand too.

    Solid B1, hoping for A2 or A1 :D

    Y = 10, Z = 2 and I cant remember X.

    Same as you.

Ok Im going to feel very out of place here but i thought it was impossible. Horrible paper couldn't answer half of it. Couldn't even attempt integration or differentiation. Ugh Im actually so upset, chances of passing are incredibly slim

    x=4

It was a bit more complicated than that. The question said it was a "special event" so the demand for tickets wasn't related to the price like in the first part of the question. You had set up a really long simultaneous equation. Did anyone else get 2500? I'm not certain I got it fully.

    I disagree.

    ****e I got 4 for the total area :(

I feel the very same! At least I'm not alone :)

Thought it was reasonable, definitely some tough bits but I was happy out really, got a bit spooked by the sequences and series questions, spent about an hour just doing the most mad convoluted attempts but then I realised "ahhh yes it was n^2!" after that it wasn't too bad!

What an absolutely beautiful paper :) Lots of study over the weekend now for paper 2, feeling confident after that :D

Im so annoyed at myself for the financial maths question... so annoyed. Easy question and I forgot how to answer the second part :(:(

As for question 5, that was confusing and question 6 wouldn't work itself out for me. I'd say i got 25 out of 50 for q5 and 12-15 out of 25 for q4.

The rest of the paper was simple, though one of the questions on either question 8 or 7 was wrong. Not that I got it wrong but it was a flawed question, I cant remember which one though, but it seemed very odd.

Does anyone know how attempt marks are allocated? In our mocks, attempt marks were scarcely allocated and we got ours sent away to be corrected by an examiner.

won't know until they examine the papers,

Am I the only one who wanted one of proof by induction/contradiction, first principles, area for disc and volume? Nothing came up! What's the story with that??

  • Registered Users Posts: 522 ✭✭✭Glee_GG

1-4 were really good, the question involving the Carbon 14 was suspiciously easy I thought
5 - was ok, took a while to figure out bit, didn't get the amount of tickets but pretty sure I'd all the other parts
6 - took a while to grasp what they wanted but then it was grand
7 and 8 - happy out, parts were tricky and took some thinking

Delighted overall, hope paper twos as good!

Yeah I thought it was a bit of a joke that months of stuff we've done and nothing came up!

In paper 2, we only need to know the theorems and constructions right??
