A new file should be all you need, dont drag it back on the mower blade on the return stroke lift it and sharpen just on the push stroke. A nice flap disc in your grinder will polish it as sharp as s razor, dont use a grinding disc or you'll take too much off the mower blade ( individual blades are known as sections ) John

I just got a viking finger bar mower. Just wondering if anyone know, . ... do I put the lift down all the way when mowing. . . Or do I leave it up a little ?

I think as a rule of thumb (and its a while since I used one!) the PTO should be tending toward as straight as you can get it. So yeah, I'd have it on the lift.

Again, this is from memory. Distant memory :-)

I'd say your right. Thanks for that.

Iv been trying to cut a small field of fairly heavy grass with a finger bar recently. Not having much luck. Would I be right in saying you would need to this when the grass is dry. ?

It's a hoor to cut wet grass. To mow with a fingerbar, everything has to be 100%.
    Have you a grass board?

There is a FB page for ford-ransomes implements if anyone is interested. Closed group though;)

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
