Doing a masters at the moment and my current results put me at 3.74 for the first two semesters (i.e. the teaching terms) which equates to 60% of the year. What is the minimum grade I can get in the thesis (40% of the year) to keep me in first territory...?

Assuming it's 3.68 or higher for a first in your course, you need at least 3.59 in your thesis, so basically a B+.
