Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are you a Fly person or a Spider person?

In my experience there are two kinds of people in this world:

Those who hate spiders, and those who hate flies.

    Which one are you?

Me? I despise Flies with every fibre of my being. A spider will leave you alone and sit quietly in corner doing nothing (except kill flies)

But Flies....oh ho flies...they roll around in ****, fly into your gaff, vomit all over your food, lay their eggs and then proceed to buzz and the room for hours pissing everyone off - dickheads!

With this good weather I'm very busy killing every fly I see with extreme prejudice.
No fly enters my domain and survives - if flies had their own folklore, my house would be referred to as "The Valley of the Dead"; none who enter ever return!

I prefer spiders over flies, but I'd still favour it if they'd both fuck off.

I'm pretty fly for a spider guy.

How could anyone have anything other than complete contempt for flies?

I don't think there's any such thing as a fly person.

Im holding off saying anything till August when those scumbag wasps surface again.
Waiting around in open cans of Coke like that woman in the supermarket who then drank the coke and wasps dying instantly in the cereal aisle.

Who the hell LIKES flies?! Dirty icky annoying buzzing things. Trying to sleep with one flying around the room, aaaagh

I don't particularly like spiders, but they pretty much just leave you alone. Plus they eat the annoying flies, so that's a plus in their favour too.

There is absolutely no better feeling than punching a fly mid-flight.

If you haven't done so yet I highly recommend it. You'll never feel more like Jackie Chan.

Spiders rule! I never disturb them in the summer esp in corners as they mop up the flies and small bugs.

I have a little lizard living in my house. It eats the spiders and the flies.

I always get rid of them whenever possible. Can't take the chance that it's a pregnant female who'll drop 100's of babies *shudders*

A fly isn't so bad, she should be ok as long as she doesn't eat any other insects.

Actually I've just thought of it - this Summer I'm deffo buying loads of carnivorous plants, gonna make my gaff a no fly zone - hopefully they'll snaffle up a few midges while they're at it too

I quite like spiders :) who on earth likes flies??!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,669 ✭✭✭who_me

I prefer flies. There's no fun to be had behind a girl's spider...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 813 ✭✭✭CaSCaDe711

Spiders for me, hate flies, no matter what size they are. Durrty yolks

@ Seachmall, just today was making a cuppa tea, and happily slapped a "tiny" fly to the floor tiles in the kitchen, yep, very enjoyable :)

Didn't bother stamping on it, made the tea, then headed out to sit in the sunshine. Can't stamp on them, or it'll rain (or is that just spiders?) :D

Because I live in Ireland, I would go with Spider. However in a foreign country, I'd go with fly.

That's class. I especially like the bit where the cat humps his leg.

  • Registered Users Posts: 15 jackie_1

If I have to choose it would be fly as I'm scared of spiders. But I don't really like flies either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭Karona

I don't really like either especially after last night, I was lying in bed reading my book when I felt something on my arm and I brushed it off then before I fell asleep I got up to go to the toilet and there on my bed was a big enough spider. When I closed my eyes then all I could see was spiders. eeewww

usually I open a door or window and the flies fack off, spiders don't take the hint and require squashing or hoovering up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,576 ✭✭✭garv123

Nothing worse than a prick of a fly who keeps landing on you every few seconds.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,461 ✭✭✭--Kaiser--

I used to be an arachnophobe but now I don't mind spiders, unless they're in my bed they don't bother me too much.

Flies, on the other hand, annoy the **** out of me and I have developed some ninja skills with a rolled up newspaper

I have at least three spiders in my room right now - building huge webs in the corners to catch he flies. Who needs insecticide, eh? :P

I absolutely HATE flies - they are so filthy. But I wouldn't kill them. I chase them around the house and direct them to open windows and doors. Slimy, disgusting things. I don't like spiders either but as long as they stay out of my bed, I leave them be.

You have to have serious mental disturbed issues if ya think flies are preferable over spiders. FFS, spiders protect us by killing germ carrying flies!!

The Biggest....Focking.... Spiders....I've ever seen live in a shed on a newish estate in Swords.

That said, I'd kill a fly quicker than a spider.

Though if it was big enough to need a shotgun, them fookin zombie super spiders are GETTING IT!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,033 ✭✭✭✭bnt

Just be sure you don't swallow a fly. It's not going to end well ...

I had a cat who used to chase spiders and flies and play with them, then he would eat them..

    Then the cat died..

Now I have spiders and flies..

    I don't mind spiders..

    Flies can **** off away!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,930 ✭✭✭Jimoslimos

I hate flies, the worst being bush flies. Little fcukers try fly up your nose, in your mouth, attack your eyes. AARRRGGHHH:mad:

    Spiders I like. Fascinating creatures:)

Anything with more than 4 legs is unnatural, so therefore I despise flies and spiders equally.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,485 ✭✭✭Thrill

    I'm a spider man.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,397 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Flies are more annoying, tried shoeing one out the kitchen window earlier, he went everywhere else except the open window, eventually he made it out, same story the other night in the bedroom, wouldn't go through the open door. Spiders usually easy to trap and shove out the door and don't make noise or fly around your head

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 850 ✭✭✭nervous_twitch

Team Spider ftw. Fly was a smug, if resourceful, bastard.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,288 ✭✭✭TheUsual

Flies here are alright, but yeah I do squash them like they are hippies.
No fly zone in my house.

Mozzies in other countries are a pain in the ass, drinking blood off some dead rat/dog and then biting you and squirting some of their last meal into your blood stream to get a free drink off you.

Vampires, disease spreader and spoilers of pale Irish white skin.

    I hate them.

There's something about spiders that I don't like but flies annoy the fcuk out of me, so big up to the spiders.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,676 ✭✭✭✭Galwayguy35

Definately spiders, I especially hate those blue flies that are around this time of year.

They are hard to kill as well.

I don't mind wasps though, I think they are useful because they kill flies.
