Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I’ve held a PSV insurance for 12 years and being in the industry for the same amount of time, I’ve never come across a psv policy that doesn’t allow for SDP on the policy.

If that hackney driver wanted to he could charge his family €0.01 per trip and be Legal, that said i think the story is the work of fiction.

There was a story of a taxi driver been caught bringing his children to school and using the bus lanes, when stopped he had the meter on, when questioned by the gardai why his meter was on he said he was charging the wife to drop the kids into school. If he wasn’t charging the wife he could of been done for improper use of a bus lane and roadtax.

    More Barge???

Nice colour scheme, 6 months test and over €500 of tax on it, which makes the €6000 asking a bit more bearable. Also falls into the €1200 tax bracket.

He used his wife's car for sdp use, the hackney for work only. I've been in the psv industry since 1997, not that has anything to do with it. I met him while driving his wife's car and that's what he told me, maybe I should have asked to see the policy because some gobshoite on boards doesn't believe me...

    Few Ls430’s recently on DoneDeal

No nct or tax, and a very soggy rear end €1999

Again no tax or test, fairly dog eared but only €1999

No tax or test (I’m seeing a pattern here) €3150,
But looks in very good order

I could only use my taxi for taxi work and my private car for private use, but that’s not what you said, you said that he’s only insured for to drive it as a hackney without social or domestic cover. Your wrong and making up stories, but don’t start mouthing off because you’ve been found out spoofing.

Jesus, it's like dealing with a zombie. Obviously I'm going to have to spell it out line by line how the conversation went. He was sitting in his wife's car, I asked him was he sparing the new car? He'd just changed his hackney for quite a nice machine. His answer to me was I can't use it for doing the shopping etc. Liberty don't allow it since the latest renewal.

I’ve had 4 policy’s over the last few years with liberty the last one renewed in 2019, social domestic use was always part of the policy as well as hire and reward.

No zombie, your just getting caught out with your wrong interpretations of another mans insurance policy.

    A very rough looking W221

    https://www.donedeal.ie/view/26016823

    Pros; LWB, Wooden steering wheel.

Cons; no nct, eml on, looks like it’s sitting down on the n/s/f? High mileage.

    €3999.

    Eyes very wide open.

I don't know the dealer, but there should be some warranty on this. I think the colour looks alright in the photos, it's a bit different to the usual silver/grey/black on XJ's. Nice interior combo of the darker wood and light leather.

That's a lovely XJ. Looks immaculate in the pics. Credit to its owner.

A friend as a navy with cream and piped navy leather. Lovely car also. He was considering selling it but I told him he's mad. Store it somewhere but hold it. It had one previous owner that kept every single document and receipt for it. He won't get another like it

Presumably you don't think the cable is a huge dirty crease/split?

One driver could be 20 stone, the other a 12 stoner or less. Loads of variable........ I'd not assume the thing is clocked or anything based on seat pictures.

Seats on my RX400, 290,000 Km. I'm 100 kg and have put the last 50,000 Km on it, bought it off a guy who weighed about 80kg. No noticeable deterioration in the cushion firmness either.

But the car as a whole is absolutely rock solid after 14 years.

Well north of €100k, if you put the details in the VRT calculator it will give the original price of that spec, it won't include any extras that were ordered from the factory.

A lot of extras on that. I have the UK price list and the rear entertainment system was GBP£3,200
    TV tuner 820
    Electric rear seat 1,120
    Passion leather 2,100
    Wood leather steering wheel 460
Ventilated front and rear seats 1,330
    Parktronic 605

So close to 10k GBP on those few bits. It would take ages to go through but I suppose you could add another 10k in bits and bobs.

In Ireland if you were to spec those with our VAT and VRT system they would be substantially more.

He was previously selling the W221 with the cls wheels.

They’ve been up on various fb marketplaces by the same profile.

I had an e65 up a few days ago for €2k and he absolutely hounded me about it, rang from about 5 different numbers in 30 minutes.

Five of them showed up to look at it in a Merc V class at half 8 in the evening, had to tell them basically to fcuk off because I had no one else there with me at the time.

It’s a bad buying tactic, I think the absolute maximum that should ever go to buy a car is two people. Prospective buyer and a second opinion.

Agreed, but they knew what they were up to.

What were they up to? Other than 5 people being fairly intimidating?

As above, they put a drop of oil in the expansion tank or up the exhaust and claim the head gasket/turbo is gone and offer you buttons for the car.

A few of them will distract you at one end of the car while the others do their thing.

Anyone take a guess what this car with this spec would have cost back in 2008?

Id say 140k plus. A diesel S Class would have been touching 100k even back then im sure.

Guess again! Checked a price list from Sept 2008 and a new S500 L was €164,000 rrp.

That car with extra’s listed plus met in the road would have been approx €195,000

    Fairly serious depreciation per kilometre

S63 was around 210k then and S65 around 320k that S500 was huge money with the extras.

In Sept 2008 it was 339k list for an S65 and you’d be sure not a single one was delivered with standard spec
