Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Road tax 2450? I thought the highest rate was 2305? Though admittedly at that rate its not very different.

Christ the tax  I have need of a7 seater, would consider something like this around the 1500 tax bracket but that's too much

I'd like it. It somehow gives the vibe of an old 7 seat W124 or W123 - but I'd say it would break your heart like a woman with BPD.

That R class would be ideal for a commercial conversion, if that's still a thing

Pre-co2 tax they are a serious nice package. They use the same platform as the ML and GL, but can be spec’d pretty much as well as an S Class.

it actually seems like these cars have had their asking prices INCREASED! A mate was getting itch to change a few weeks ago, around a 2010 a4 / a6, they have come down drastically in price in the matter of a few weeks, the cheaper ones anyway. it seems most cars hold up to a certain point, then there is a big drop, when a few sellers actually have to move on their car and accept the actual value, particularly if they are desperate for money or already have their new replacement car. Delighted with how much he has saved!

I wouldnt be bothered spending that money on an older s class swb with the 3l diesel engine and non facelift. Better buy a 2010 like the below... the max tax those cars are worth in diesel , is E75o IMO...

    the below example is lovely...

Cartman is yours a LWB? how you finding it and one question, there is no aux point etc in my car, there is bluetooth, but I believe bluetooth on for the phone is that right, I cant stream music via the bluetooth?

Mine is LWB. For the audio I found the iPod module with the retrofit harness for 40 quid on eBay, fitted it in about 30 mins and had the coding done to 'enable aux' , then connected a bovee 1000 to allow me to stream bluetooth audio. Works perfect with track titles displayed in the cluster and the steering controls work.
    traco wrote: »
Mine has a buetooth in the command but its not for phone or music. For phone you should have a bluetooth puck in the center arm rest that plugs into the phone connection. Connecting to the command bluetooth does nothing.

I have a white 37 pin Ipod connector in the glovebox and that works with an old iPod. I did buy a bovee 1000 bluetooth thing. This didn't work and I think its that the white cable doesn't supply the voltage needed for the Bovee. I believe if you have the newer black 37 pin ipod cable it will work with the Bovee units.

If you select "Audio" what options do you get in the command. The extra inputs if they aren't there will need to be turned on via star in the command module

mine has the white connector from the 'iPod module 1' and powers the bovee, possible your iPod module or the bovee itself is faulty.

    How is that a barge?

It is a van, with commercial tax, with other requirements for insurance and legal niceties to continue with the current tax rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,025 ✭✭✭User1998

Its a 5 seater commercial, not a van. And the same can be said about all the Mercedes posted with PSV tax

Still showing as for sale on Donedeal I see. Seller should remove ad if it is already sold in reality though.

Out of curiosity what is the little metal thing towards the front of the nearside wing.

    Exactly.

A taxi or PSV is not a barge, nor is van. A taxi or PSC or 5 seater commercial is a tax fiddle - not open to everyone.

They need to change that €333 tax rate. There is no justification for it anymore - not that there ever was.

I use my range rover as my daily business vehicle, its used for business 99% of the time , you can get a photocopier in the back without removing the feeder, you can get a half height server cabinet into it, it has almost as much carrying space as a Vw caddy but can go up the side of a muddy hill to a radio mast etc.. and allows vat reclaim on fuel and ownership as a business expense. Comercially taxed 4x4s have legitimate uses for business .

    True.

But they are not barges, no more than a coach that can carry 30 passengers is a barge. Great for a works outing, but not a barge.

I would think of a Ford Transit or the VW Transporter as the van of choice.

    Totally disagree.
Would you say the same if that Range Rover happened to be taxed privately?

A RR Vogue is very comparable to an S-Class. Similar levels of luxury and scale.

That’s a nice example, tax is crucifying motors like these.

Seen a late model E200 on a 09 reg with the 1.8 engine. €1200 a year to tax, soul destroying.

Their stock is all very well presented and most of it seems to be priced reasonably enough, with a few low mileage things being priced very steeply.

This is very much a very rare model for Ireland but I can't see there being too many interested in that........... there must be thousands of profit in it at that price ..... as in almost half the asking price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,668 ✭✭✭traco

It does look clean to be fair and the miles are low. I don't understand why someone would order a premiium 500 and not add a sunroof at least and maybe a few other bits.

this is it. surely at that point be it paying cash or going on finance throwing an extra 5k for some highly desirable extras makes sense.

Im also not a huge fan of the wheels or colour on that one, just seems a bizzare order.

Probably 3k and change? I did it ages ago and think there was an admin fee, could have been 500 but I could be way off. I'd be confident though that you won't get 36% of 17k anyway.

The current admin fee is €100, and if they charge €3,600 bringing one in, they pay out €3,500 taking one out. Of course, VRT must have been paid on it originally, so if it was brought in on a residency change, then no refund.

if it was black, white or silver and a host of options absolutely. the UK market care about spec. However you'd get 5k off a lad in Eastern Europe all day long for it and the 2.5k vrt rebate.

Always assumed admin fee was €500!

Its actually €100, My own 2006 S Class would get a rebate of €950 and I can claim the tax back also. (6 months roughly another €900ish)

So €1,850 in total and I still have the price of the car.

Yet its on DoneDeal for €2,500 and not one serious enquiry.

TBH I don't think the VRT rebate is all its cracked up to be, you'd want to be looking at a serious refund to make it worth the hassle. Not to mention bringing potential scrutiny from Revenue in regards your tax affairs, notably if you are self employed. You'd want to have all your affairs in order if venturing down that road or if you plan to make a habit of exporting barges with refunds due on them.

As a one off it'd be no problem.... If you make a habit of it then you might appear to be doing it to make money as a side line.

I think he means more so that if you owe Revenue any money that they will deduct that from your VRT rebate hence why your taxes need to be in order

I'd say he's alluding to triggering an audit or something with REAP but who knows.
They'd not deduct money owed to them from a VRT rebate I reckon..... Different streams. And if they reckon you owe them money they'll likely get it from you :)

He’s actually right, I definitely remember reading it from an official revenue document. Its the same with VRT appeals. If you owe revenue any money they will deduct that amount from the VRT amount they owe you

That s500 for 17k belongs in the dreamers thread. You can get 2011 on s500 with a good bit more bhp for e1200 motor tax. Rubbish colour too and who would spend that kind of money when its asking price would also get a few year newer, more powerful, cheaper tax option facelift, WITH the factory amg kit?!
