Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Not a bad car but not luxo and not a barge.

In their possible defense, it could be a customer car on consignment and thats the price they want!! It would want to be something special with unique provenance to even get half way to that price.:pac:

It came "from a gentleman in South Dublin who traded it in to me for a nice E-Class" If I recall the sales-pitch accurately - not exactly special for these cars I imagine :-).

    True! :pac:

Considering you could get a 2007 S320 CDI for about 13K, its a bit ambitious.

LS430 €1500, NCT until next May, alloys need a refurb...

Oddly motortax.ie is putting it down as a 2 litre engine though and Cartell.ie puts it's engine size as 1995cc?

    ... or a 2005 Cl500 with similar mileage for 7500 asking

... or interestingly a 2004 CL600 Biturbo V12 (500 or so HP, only about 200 made per year) with similar mileage for 10K

I don't know is it kerbing or just corrosion I suppose kerbing helped in any case it's great value at that price especially being taxed as a 2.0.

As far as I know this is the way they oxidise, known issue with them, can't really tell though as pics are so bad.

at least the merc has come down in price. i paid 2500 for my s350, same year and miles but i can see from the pics there that that one has heated seats (mine doesn't). mine also doesn't have sat nav option or tv tuner option (borderline useless these days but does work well as an aux input for dvd players etc).

anyway i think for that price it's ok if it has a few more options.

What would you price it at?
I think its a well cared for car with good spec. Well, judging from the pics and ad. I agree with you and think it is over priced @ 5k though. I genuinely don't know what that car is "really" worth. I would like to know as I like them a lot and was thinking of moving from the Volvo next year.
I would like that car, in my drive way. Did I mention that I like the car?:pac:

I don't think it's madly overpriced as it looks to be fairly straight allthough if I was buying one i would save for a 450H. .

    Nobody knows :)

It is worth what someone is going to offer. I wouldn't offer more than €2.5k myself but no doubt there are fans out there willing to fork out more!

I can't warm to them though, I just like the 300GS. I think they are sweet.
Is the 450H that much better? The 300 could be run cheaper over the long haul (over a 2 year period - minus trouble of course).
Tyres, petrol, maintenance etc? I don't know.

    2.5k? :eek::eek::eek:

These GS300s actually go for around €4-5k, so in my opinion it's fairly priced, especially since it's a Sport.

Heated & Ventilated Front Seats, Navigation, Reversing Camera, Mark Levinson audio... These are great bang for your buck, and I'd rather have this than the poverty spec S-Classes that DoneDeal is full of, and I'm no Lexus fan myself.

I'd say I'd rather spend €4.5k on a full spec Lexus than an equivalent E60 which won't even have leather at times for that price.

Lads, it doesn't matter how great the car is or what they go for in real life.

If someone on boards says it's over priced then that's final, they are a dreamer and the buyer is always better off with a BMW #25.

Its night and day power wise. The 450h is a wow car powerwise. The 300 is just nicely powered.
Both cars are not a great drive though in terms of feel. You just feel isolated although imo the suspension is excellent in that it offers comfort and handling.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,721 ✭✭✭✭CianRyan

    They're the same 3.0 V6 right? Just the 450h is a petrol/electric hybrid?

    Off to Wikipedia.

    Edit: almost right.
3.5V6, electric hybrid, 339hp, 5.2 0-60 and its a super low emissions car.
So yes, it's worth the difference over the standard GS300.
I guess that means but post 08 to avail of the cheap tax.

Good spot. It may not take too much for an insurance company to write off an 8 year old Lexus, but that fact that it not mentioned in the ad probably indicates a good reason to avoid it. And the whiff of clocking doesnt help either. Anyone know what the mileage was?

Thats very close to the conversion from miles to kilometers. Could have been an input error.

Hi Lads, anyone got any opinions on ML 270, I see a nice 2003 all leather auto 7 seater in Dublin for €3,400, tax til June 15 and test just done, full merc SH, I drive it for 9+ months on that tax and commercialise it then, want a jeep for towing a trailer the odd time, I do very few miles any more, maybe 100pw, it looks value to me?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,415 ✭✭✭ofcork

The first generation ml don't have the greatest reliability like most mercs from that era.

100km per week so roughly 4800km per year. I know you said you need a jeep to pull a trailer the odd time but I think a petrol jeep would be more suitable for you.
The diesel engine in that Merc is supposed to be very heavy on diesel.

I know two people who had 01 MLs. In both cases they were tormented with problems and eventually got rid of them after a short enough time. Then again, I had a 01 E-class - another Merc from the same period - for over 7 years and it never gave me any trouble.

E-class was made in Germany, ML was made in the USA.

Had an ML over there for a while and it was brutal to drive. Never even mind the build quality.
