Received by email from the Firearms Range Inspector:
To all Range Owners and Range Operators,

This notice is circulated to range owners and operators as an information
    note regarding a potential hazard.

It is circulated to shooters for information only.

A report has been received of an incident which occurred on a shooting
range in Ireland. The target being used was a bowling skittle which had
been placed inside an approved revetment constructed in accordance with
    regulations.

A .22" round fired from a handgun in the standing position at a distance of
fifty (50) feet caused a ricochet which struck the RO who was standing
behind the firer. This did not cause a serious injury but did draw blood.

Operators and owners of shooting ranges are reminded that the default
target type on the range certificate is for paper and cardboard targets
only. The use of other target types is only permitted where they are
    specifically mentioned in the certification.

    Regards
