Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How come the weather app doesn't display the live temperature in the way the calendar app displays the live date ?

not sure tbh. but here could be a couple of reasons.

    1. having to grab weather data over the air how often should it grab? weather especially in ireland can change so many times a day guessing all these extra server calls and gps lookups would drain battery a whole lot, where as the calendar is done on the device itself with no internet needed.
    2. weather just isn't as important as the date for 'normal' people and if you're a weather nut you'll most likely have a more featured app installed and use it as much as 'normal' people use Facebook.

Because the date only changes once every 24 hours and a gadget doesn't need an external link to work it out whereas the temperature is changing minute by minute?

    Hardly a valid comparison.

I've started to use Weather Snitch 2 which has a refresh button to update to current temperature. App looks good and it just went free last week.

Every live app icon means more continuous net traffic and more bandwidth. This is why Apple chose not to follow that path way back when these were not a desirable choice and battery life was not as good as it is today. And thank god they don't include a multitude of customisable settings. They are a pain in the neck. I love iOS because it just does the job and I don't have to mess and spend time with millions of settings. People who want live icons can easily d'load third party apps anyway.
