My mother owns an apartment in a University town and had it rented to 4 people, it is a two bedroomed apt - quite spacious and only 5 years old. I agree. Of course a Landlord can submit an invoice from a related party for work done as long as it is tax compliant. I have many times, have plumbers, electricians etc in the family.
