Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I would have gone had the support act not been Bressie. I was already a bit disappointed that it was in an awkward location and seeing the support act kind of made me make up my mind.

I have been to many of their concerts and they've always been good fun but I can't say trekking to Slane and hearing Bressie and the Coronas is particularly appealing...

I felt the exact same, when I heard Bressie and Hamsandwich were the support I just went :rolleyes:and decided not to go. But now I see there is loads of tickets about on Adverts so I might wait till Thursday and see if I can get one for €40, that's all they're worth if the support is going to be that woeful IMO.

Wouldn't be surprised. Every radio station are trying to give away tickets.

Could it possibly be anything to do with the face that he cut his price in Spain, giving the Spanish cheaper tickets.

Did all the people that were going to buy tickets think, "Hang on, shure I wait a bit, he's bound to reduce the price, and I'll get 2 tickets for the price of 1."

Was thinking the exact same thing; if Spain can get cheaper tickets why not us? God knows we're in the **** too!

Metallica have played here far too much in the last decade to really be a big draw for Slane.

Oh what a tragedy. Another shite 80's/90's band dies from lack of interest. They haven't had a good song in 15 years FFS.

These third rate pub rock Springsteen imitators were out of date before they even started.

You know when you normally ring a radio station to win tickets,

Well the other day a radio station rang my brother to tell him he had won Bon Jovi tickets, he never entered anything, he thought it was a piss take.

Anyways he got them, safe to say it's not selling, it has just sold better than Spain hence no waiving of appearance fee half price tickets bullsh1t.

I wanted to get tickets for Bon Jovi but I'm going to a concert later in the summer and couldn't afford more than one concert. Such a disappointment its cancelled for those that did buy tickets though.

All in all 2013 is shaping up to be a very good year for music concerts.

    Olly Murs was at Easter.
The Lion King performance opened in May.
    -Bon Jovi
    -Bruce Springsteen
    -Robbie Williams
    -Michael Buble (my favourite)
    all in June/July

The crowd who sings 'Ho Hey' is on in the winter. Billy Joel is on in November.

    I wanted to go to
    -Nathan Carter,
    and
    -The High Kings
    a few weeks ago.

Not really music but my sister told me that Attraction who won Britain got Talent, just last night, is putting on a performance in Dublin in August.

I want to go to so much but couldn't afford them all.

I'd love a bit of Sharon Shannon and The Saw Doctors too.

That list is an awful ball of sh1te.

Y'see I saw metallica back when they could deliver the goods live as opposed to just lurch through singalongs. :)

Only 40,000 with no taste - thats the problem

Anyway - Slane is supposed to be for bands that are special - Bon Jovi play the RDS every year*

*Havent done any research so probably not 100% accurate

I never got how people got annoyed about concerts from artists they don't like happening. There is literally no way that a Robbie Williams concert happening can affect you unless you drop a serious amount of cash to see it. And we're probably getting a more diverse range of artists than ever before coming over (over the past year alone it's started to be a case of me finding a new artist on some random music blog then seeing a gig by them in The Academy, Olympia etc announced that week), so it's not as if these big names coming over are stopping smaller artists from playing either. If anything, the recession helped the live gig scene because promoters realised they needed to get the finger out to get people to spend their money.

But I guess complaining about it is a handy way to show how sophisticated your music tastes are to people who didn't ask.

That's so funny. For a few years, there was nothing playing here that interests me. We're clearly different on music tastes.

well that is one of the worst wishlists in 'music' Ive ever seen, surely nothing can top that?
Word has it that Garth Brooks is making a come back with a tour in 2014. I can't wait :-)

    Stupid choice for Slane.

In fact, Slane is ****ing ****e.

Get AC/DC instead, and play Dublin instead ,Muse supporting.

Bon Jovi are awful. So are Muse. Do not get Muse at all. So pedestrian.

    Blaze of Glory.

It's basically like, my life in a song.
That was a solo effort by Jon Bon Jovi on the Young Guns 2 / Blaze Of Glory Soundtrack.

Shoot me for knowing this :p
As pageant messiah said, this is a solo song. Bad Medicine is brilliant :pac:

    What's wrong with cheese?

Galtee make a fortune selling it, and so does Bryan Adams.

I've been to 4 Bon Jovi concerts, 2 were unreal, 2 were absolute cr@p.
The last one in the RDS was cr@p of the highest order, couldn't be bothered with all the bullsh!t that comes with going to slane, and then it may or may not be a good concert.
If it was in Dublin, RDS etc i may have considered going.(if i got a free ticket!!)

I'm not really surprised this is not selling. Let's face it it was a pretty uninspired choice for Slane. Also the fact that Bon Jovi have played in Ireland a lot over the last few years means that there is no wow factor to this gig.

So there's still tickets? Is it easy to get to slane?

I went to see Bon Jovi way back when I was 19 or 20 (that's a few years ago now). I can't remember a thing about the concert because I was drunk. All I know is, I went there with black boots on and came home wearing purple ones two sizes too big. If someone is looking for their boots back I still have them somewhere.

We need Pearl Jam , Biffy Clyro and The National to play Slane and maybe get Faith No More to reform for it too.
And maybe Ben Howard to Support..

I would not go all the way to Slane for anything less than Pink Floyd supported by The Doors. Original line up only.
Go make that happen Lord Henry.
