Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

There is no scientific evidence that suggests women are more or less emotional due to it being "that time of the month".

It's a myth perpetuated by confirmation bias and the observer-expectancy effect.

No big deal for my gf, I just avoid annoying her, supply copious amounts of icecream and chocolate and come out of it better than ever.

OP calmly explain in your most condescending voice that she is playing up to a stereotype that her gender are trying to get rid of. Finish up with something about how if she wants to play it that way, you will also have a 4 day per month period which you will quench with beer and curries.

Then scientists need to live with a woman.

Apparently the sort of man a woman finds attractive can vary depending on where they are in their monthly cycle.

When they are not menstruating, women prefer buff, well groomed yet rugged looking men.

When they are menstruating, they prefer men with a spear through his head and genitals that have been attacked with a broken bottle.

Is that actually true? I tried googling it but probably using the wrong phrases to search for. Surely with the change in hormones being produced there would be change in mood? Maybe women aren't 'more emotional' as a direct symptom but they can be more drained emotionally and physically from the pain that often accompanies menstruation - cramps and headaches.

Are you saying PMS is imaginary? Are you nuts? I'm not saying every woman gets more emotional around that time, but, seriously, do you know any women?

Meh, it's one theory. I read something about it on Jezebel, but I forget the link and...you know, it's Jezebal.

But the Period symptoms on their own, IMO, would make anybody grumpy:P

My bloating, cramps and pains are very real. The change in my mood is very real also. I´d describe it as "melancholy". I tend to just keep my head down for this week (it´s this week :() and try to keep positive but it´s not a particularly nice thing to have to go through once a month. Some women suffer it worse than others and the fact that it´s not acknowledged openly and then you´ve got idiots on here denying it´s existance to contend with. Yiz can feck right off. Off ye pop with your "Man flu" ffs.

I really wish the above were true because this crap is the bane of my existence. I am very irregular so marking my cycle on the calender doesn't help. I know I am about to get my period when I start to be overly sad/happy about things that normally wouldn't move me. I don't get testy but rather more open to high highs and really low lows. I also know I am due when my idea of healthy food suddenly becomes anything laden in salt, grease and sugar.

I never said there wasn't any anecdotal evidence.

I've heard it from multiple sources, albeit of questionable reliability (hence the retraction).

You should get your facts straight before you make claims like that as it does nothing but contributes to the stick it already gets. It´s very real for many women and a real problem. You´re making a farce of it.
