I just got a missed call from the following number +1 202-870-0532
It just rang once and stopped, the number came up.
I Googled the number and it says Washington D.C.

It reminds me of a scam a few month back, ringing once and hanging up with a country code prefix that looked like a vodafone number at first glance.

People who glance at the +1 code might think its a Dublin number,

Maybe I'm being paranoid but has anyone else got a missed call from this number after one ring?

Maybe the FBI are looking for you??

Sounds like a dodgy number, unless it was a misdial or something by them.

Maybe the White House called the wrong number. Ring back and if there's no answer that's probably it. It would be a major security slip up.

Why do you ask? What reference has that to anything?

If you're in Cavan, you're grand, because you won't ring back. :pac:

It might be relevant. Are you near the border?

If your in the border region it might be the White House ringing for security checks before Obama arrives in Fermanagh.

Do you live in Carlow? Could be mistaken for Cavan. Or Laois for Louth? Mayo for Monaghan?

You're in Galway? That explains it.

You're a deep sleeper agent and you've been activated under the Bourne initiative.

Next stop is a sniper rifle and a certain dusky world leader

If you're along the west coast it's understandable that you'd get that sort of call at the present time.

Because of the upcoming G8 in Fermanagh.

You're as bad as the earlier smart Alex answers! Get real!

It's a bit far-fetched but sort of understandable. The authorities won't want Obama to be in danger so they could be doing checks on the west coast and border.

Down south and the east wouldn't really matter except the route from dublin to Fermanagh because Barack's family are staying in the Gresham.

Dial the operator from a payphone, give them the number and request that they make a reverse charge call.

Yes a Google gives that. Verizon are just the phone provider. You have to pay to find out who the customer is though. So all we still know is that it came from DC.

When I miss a call, I assume that the person will ring back if it's important enough. I wouldn't worry about it, and I definitely wouldn't be calling back.

They aren't going to be "doing checks" by phoning random home phone numbers.

Probably just a wrong number, you really shouldn't be posting in on the Internet.

OK - this has definitely gone beyond the realm of Consumer Issues. Moving to AH.
