Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

NCD is usually only valid for 2 years of non-use, but it is at the discretion of your new insurance company whether to accept it or not.

Most insurers dont ask for details of claims or convictions over 3 years old.

Ring them and ask. No one here will be able to tell you how much your insurance will be

When the T&Cs ask if you were disqualified in the past 3 years, does this mean
    (a) Were you convicted and disqualified and your court date was in the last 3 years,
    OR,
    (b) Were you disqualified from driving(ie off the road) at any time in the last 3 years

Obviously,if its (b) the you can't get an online quote, because you don't satisfy the terms and conditions.

Also there is a catch-all "material facts disclosure" which must include a recent conviction for DD.

its hard to make out what your are saying.

You have a 4 year drinking driving ban whilst holding a provisional driving licence?

If its your 2nd offence, you'll be lucky to get a quote at all. Once is careless, twice is...........

You will need to apply for a new learner permit, there is no such thing as a provisional licence any more. You probably won't have to do the theory test as you held a provisional licence in the past five years.

But with two convictions and only a learner permit, expect plenty of rejections. I wouldn't bother getting online quotes, you need to talk to a broker.

You don't appear to appreciate the situation you're in, your original post asks if you can keep your no-claims bonus coming out of a four year disqualification for drink driving (the answer by the way is 'you have got to be joking'), that shows a staggering level of ignorance as to how the system works. You will be extremely lucky to get anyone to quote you and if they do, it will be an astronomical number.

There are specialist insurance companies out there that will provide you with insurance. As recommended above talk to a broker. You'll probably find excesses around €3,000 though.

Have you sought help for your alcohol abuse?
