    1. Do all vets do microchipping or is it a specialised procedure?

    2. How much does it cost roughly?

    3. Can anyone recommend a practice that does it in Cork City?

    Thanks guys.

Currently it is considered a veterinary procedure and can only be performed by a vet or a veterinary nurse. It's simply an injection (implanting the chip under the skin) so it's something any vet can do.

It has become really cheap lately! Plenty of places charging €20 or less!

I use Abbeyville Vets in Togher, I find them really good. I got both my cat and dog microchipped there.
It's something similar to an injection when they do it, the chip is about the size of a grain of rice and it only takes a second to put it in.

I paid 14 euro to get my cat done, but that was a special offer when I got a name tag in a certain shop, I'll try and find out if that deal is still going for you :) I don't think it's usually much more than 20 euro though.

I can't seem to find the 14 euro deal anywhere, it must have expired, sorry!

If it helps at all though, when I took my pub in to Abbeyville I got two sets of vaccinations, a health check and the microchipping for about 90 euro. And they gave me a big bag of food for her too. Could be a good deal for you if you're looking to get the lot done :)

Thanks lads. It's my Mother's cat and she has a regular vet who has her details so I guess he'll do it for her.

Free micro-chipping by the DSPCA in Cork 13th July.

Just google DSPCA free micro-shipping. On their website it doesn't give dates for Cork, but I saw it in a FB post of theirs'.
