Sounds most deffo like a Monday morning lemon.. CZ was THE gun to have if you couldn't get a Browning hi power 9mm,and were in the "trade"{Browning Hi power another good choice with a 22 conversion kit .;)]
And those were in the times of CZ being put together by filthy Red Commies behind the Iron Curtain. Before Tanfoglino started making them for the Western market.By rights it is a full frame with the .22 slide and barrel on it which is a pretty simple affair ,mostly. Can I ask what was the problems with it?

You can be unlucky with CZ rifles too.We have a double O/U rifle by CZ,in 9.3 for boar hunting The reciver block wasn't heat treated properly and it is slowly powering the reciver block apart from the barrel.Large amounts of pushed out primers and bulged bases.Bought second hand so of course no warranty anymore either.:( Cant be sold either as it has junk value and is now becoming a gun safe queen.

Always fancied a hi power, it was after all designed by JM browning as an improved version of the 1911. CZ pistols or pistol designs ? Don't forget the Swiss made sphinx, a bit on the expensive side but beautifully made.

The CZ design is now made by a whole bunch of companies.Off the top of me head.
    CZ,[Czech republic]Tanfoglino[Italy],Sphinx,[Swiss] Bul/Transmark,[Israel],IEA[US]
Nice thing about the Hi Power is it can be a tri caliber gun with the different uppers. .22lr,9mm and 40 cal .Although caution on the last one,it can stress some older frame guns.
