I either got it in a drop from Lexington or from those sealed caches you buy off vendors but they exist

Loads of then in the end game, the 12 x are probably the best, but I think the guys are talking about before you get to level 30

I'm currently level 23 and was using an AR for most of the game but recently using a Sniper/Shotgun combo and it's wrecking people. Weapons are constantly underlevelled though but no way I'm spending money on one at a vendor.

Like above, I just no scope people with the sniper, works a bit too well.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,560 ✭✭✭Slutmonkey57b

No scoping won't work on my setup, screen is too far away. Interesting that gold scopes drop for others though, I'm 256 and no scopes in drops or main vendors that I've seen since level 15 when I got the purple. I'm sure I've missed some since I never trawl all vendors every day, but you'd expect to see some. Better than all the sawn off shotguns that crop up anyway!

On the other side of the coin, with the amount of high end gear dropping in random encounters now it's easy to have millions of credits in the bank.

I get scopes dropped all the time in the underground and LEX, got a showstopper and a FAMAS last night in LEX which is unusual in 2 runs. FAMAS is not great but I am using the perk in my AB setup.

Really liking the D3F-NC gear set for pve Probably need a better smg than the one I have. Think I'm going to have to build up a third character to run this striker/shotgun set up though. Speed he puts elites down is insane. Gameplay starts around 6:20

If massive see a vid like this the whole game is getting re worked again lol.

Patch 1.6 inbound I hope to sweet god they dont **** the game up again. Since 1.4 the game is so playable again.

Here the thing I feel wrecks the division since day one, PvP (DZ). If something in the game is overpowered/underpowered/overused its usually against PvP so people complain hard online blah blah blah so its nerfed or buffed/ reworked etc. But the same items are usually perfectly balanced in PvE but its nerfed/buffed accordingly thus messing up a perfectly fine system in the PvE world.

The constant DZ reshuffling is destroying the LZ game (lightzone-outside the DZ)

Seen as 1.6 is all about PvP I have grave reservations that the core game is gonna suffer to balance out the DZ. I mean only something like 20% of the players account for DZ activity so why mess the game up for the rest of the 80%.

I think its high time to introduce a PvE world in the DZ as alot of people who play the game have never even explored the DZ and are missing out on alot of fun and a very nice section of the game in the DZ map.

Reqached Max level a while ago and messed around a bit in the DZ. Picked up Underground recenlty but not Survival. Is there much to do in Underground? Is it mission based or just random stuff.?

There's missions which you can do solo or in groups of 4. It's pretty grindy to unlock stuff. After a while you can do two or three phase missions on different difficulty settings with various mods to make things harder, which offer greater rewards. It's ok but I found it got repetitive fast. Had the season pass and was happy to pick it up.

There is so much you cant do until you are level 30 though,im just grinding now to level up and get through the story missions, and doing Survival to get the high level crates to sell (as i cant use the gear yet).

I found the underground brilliant for getting gear, if you do a 3 phase operation you are 100% getting at least 1-2 green items AND gold items off each boss. So before getting stuff dropped randomly and the gold chest at the end of each operation you can easily walk away with 10 items per level.

No I will say that the enemies are tougher down in the underground more armour and aggressive but if you play regular with peeps you are sorted randoms are bit hit and miss.

The levels are quite good and varied too.....survivor is an acquired taste to be fair. I find it very good and the PvE variant is alot better, but you need to dedicate at least 2hrs with no breaks. So plan your session well.

    Here's a question.

Which is more important.. Toughness, weapon damage or electronic skills.

I've just hit 256 with so- so gear..And I see these lads taking bosses down with a single clip taking very little damage.

I can't seem to get to that level of damage.
But then again I still can't get my head around the whole stats, rerollling stuff etc.

Im in the same boat, no idea what gear I should be looking for

What are your current stats? What's the intended playstyle? Is there a specific gear set you're after, such as AlphaBridge?

you'll see them taking down bosses quickly, you might not see how quickly they go down when the boss is hitting them :)

put just enough into firearms to unlock your weapon talents. don't worry too much about electronics, you'll have some from your holster anyway. play like that, if you find yourself surviving without going down a lot you can start to move more into firearms for quicker takedowns.

also look at enemy armor damage as a minor stat on gear with armor to increase your damage to NPC's

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,013 ✭✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

General rule of thumb (FOR ME ANYWAY)

PvE 400K toughness is plenty, the rest spec into DPS. I personally forget electronics as the bump you get without spec'ing into it usually does the job (80-90k)

Currently I am running 370K DPS with 470 Toughness and 80K electronics - AlphaBrigde setup. I have an armour mitigation of 54% and the majority of the toughness is made up from armour mods on gear and a nice Barrets chest piece.

You are not going to stand toe to toe with the elite heavies or sergeants they have too much armour, but I can kill all elites bar heavies with one clip of my Auto rifle (I do have to hit the headshots in fairness, or its a clip and a half) and take substantial damage doing so.

You will get a fairly good build of around late 200's DPS and late 300's toughness with stuff picked up, to get higher then that you have to start the min/max routine of fine tuning gear and coming across better as you play.

For PvP you need as high toughness as you can get, on my PvP build I have 515k toughness and 280DPS again low electronics.

Again its how you intend to play.....

But there are some great tips for getting free DPS for absolutely nothing, like getting certain perks on guns that give 10-15-20% damage just for meeting the requirements. For example I run the AB setup and just equipping the FAMAS in the 2nd slot I get 15% damage for nothing!

As the rest said toughness initially should be your aim and in around 400k is about ok. You cant kill anybody if you are dead yourself :p It must be an absolute minefield for you just coming in fresh but number one aim is to collect at much gear as you can for now and see what gear sets you can actually put together. Farm the LZ bosses and in no time you will get a matching set of something and go from there tbh this is part of the fun of the Division its a loot game and collect stuff and gearing up is most of the fun.

Try this link here on reddit it has loads of tips guides etc on building a loadout etc etc
    https://www.reddit.com/r/thedivision/wiki/community_resources#wiki_update_1.5

As you might be aware the "meta" which is the go to build is alfabridge everybody has one and it is very good at melting NPCs, although I can see this being nerfed in the next update they dont like popular builds...so I mightnt go down that route if you are just starting out.

Me I am running a DeadEye at the moment and having great fun with it but its a bit specialist and its a bit of a glass cannon only at 315k toughness. Its a team build where I sit back and and up high with my M700 Carbon and take rogues on from distance putting out 70-100k to other agents one or two shots normally does it with your team mates doing the coup de grais :D put a couple down today and a few friendlies :o that got in our way..(elite NPCs average hit is 500-600k) makes a change from my AB

Yeah the game can be played totally different if you in a team of friends, in fact its a HELL OF ALOT BETTER.

Have a 5 piece sentry too, not optimized, but the stack is great for the team in PvE. Still using an m1a, and a 225 shotgun but might switch over to an SVD, it looks like they got a buff lately.

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,013 ✭✭✭✭Wonda-Boy

Got a set of strikers on now, not optimised and hitting for 580K DPS....M60 is a beast. Toughness is only 380K but I will get to work playing around with this.......its a nice change from the AB build.

M700 carbon is my weapon of choice for sniper

Bit slow to stack though, in 90% of cases, the shotgun stacks best, just need a pellet to land.

why would you run 5 pieces ?

Well what do you know, its gone back to four. Didn't read the description, just replaced my 5 piece lower tier stuff. Never figured that it had changed back to 4 piece ^ ^. Thanks for the news!

Solo on challenging? Solo with mixed gear? Speed runs in a group are boring beyond belief, but there ways to change it up.
