Money's very easy to come by in the end game. I'm trying to get a commendation for selling stuff and have been doing so for a week and my cash has gone from 270M to 440M. As mentioned you don't really need it for much. I did rage quit the game for several months trying to roll a piece of gear and in my stubbornness used all the money I ever earned. It's a lot easier make the cash back now though.

I rarely if ever bought anything from the vendors playing through the story. You'll get better gear dropping soon enough.

Sound, I'll hold tough so. Been grinding side missions a lot so only starting to get back to main story missions now cos there's a bit of a gap in skill level required after 15 or so, at least that's how it felt for me. Hopefully better loot will start to drop once I get the next few missions done.

Was just wondering when does the purple lewts start to drop. Blues are most common now but all fairly crap.

Purple gear drops from lvl 15 up but isn't very common. Best place to go for it is the dz. Open up chests in dz and extract. Shouldn't talk long to get all purple's which will make a huge difference. I usually go in every few levels to get better gear.

Cheers, I tried DZ briefly when I was around level 14 but got slaughtered on the extraction attempt. Haven't went back since, might try again and see how I fare.

Only option for legendary stuff is from specialised weapons vendor. I'm using an assault rifle as primary and he has a nice one but costs cost of my credits to get (but give a nice DMG boost over current AR).

Is money easier to come by at later stages? I'm wary about spending nearly everything on one gun. Or should purple drops start appearing anytime soon.

It can be really hard to get to 30. I know I had some rage. Enemies can really out level your gear very fast.
I personally would spend money you earn before 30. It actually helps a lot after you unlock special vendor in security wing. After 30, by just selling a few yellows you will get a lot of cash and yellow drop like greens on your journey to 30.

If you can try not to pick up recordings and collectibles before 30. Pick them up if they are on the way, but dont be hunting them. After you hit 30, collecting those things will give you a ton of xp, which will give you a lot of free gear that you will need.

Anyway, I am on resistance binge myself. Nailed the concept of what to do and it is good source of gear. Its a shame that exotics just ignore me completely. Only got 4 after playing 80h! All crap too, last one to pick up was liberator.
Got a few pieces of clasified gear, but all from random sets. Even have now two Nomad vest pieces. :pac:

By the way, is it me or exotics are very underpowered for their rareness. Feels like launch of Diablo 3, those who played will know what I mean.

Some of them are very good.
House is arguably the best gun in the game. Bullfrog is arguably better than the House. MDR is a very strong and unique AR. Alejandro is a monster if you take advantage of it's exotic perk. Showstopper  particularly on a striker build.
Some of them have very situational perks that can be good in the right set up for example caduceus or midas. The problem is you are better off using something like an M4 or MP7 as they are more useful in the long run.
The hungry hog used to be insane but they nerfed it. It's still very good in certain situations but again something like an MG5 correctly rolled will out perform it.
Exotic gear needs to be buffed as classified sets have made them largely obsolete.

Thanks, side missions definitely starting to get frustrating as I'm reaching the higher levels. Some of them are harder than the main story level bosses. Don't know how many attempts it took to beat Simon Burris at level 15, what a tank. Got him eventually though but not without frustration.

Have been stumbling across recordings but not actively seeking them out, will keep them for later so.

Vendor AR adds about 400 DMG to my current primary so reckon it would definitely make things easier so might take the plunge on that if money is easy come by later.

Looking forward to opening up Resistance and the likes as I'd say I'll be burned out from the missions and side missions at that point.

On the exotics I'd add that in this game they are designed more to be unique and potentially game-play changing rather than stronger than their peers. I look on them as strategic options as their unique talent tends to have very specific uses. E.g. I'm using the Tenebrae alongside a good LWM4 AR, it's by no means a great sniper rifle, more a basic DMR but it's unique talent is setting off an enemy's weakspot resets the cooldowns for all skills. This is fantastic in the WSP since there's almost always a cleaner in the mix for you to pop a tank, then it's back out with a fresh turret and med-station. Still with their rarity and the expectations we all have from similar in other games a little buff wouldn't hurt, even if it was to allow them to be optimised a bit higher than regular weapons, so there would be a cost to uber'ing them but still a viable upgrade path.

I've seem to be getting Hunters in all of the Underground missions I've done in the past 2 or 3 days. If you don't have a squad that knows how to deal with them, you're fcked!

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

Yeah you're in real trouble if you're in a group and 2 or more of your team go down. They're actually pretty easy once you get set up but if you have several of them running at you, you've got a problem.
Was playing a few weeks back and two lads died early on. It ended up in an epic battle with me and the other guy against five or six hunters. Thought it would never end but it did, leading to wild scenes of celebration.

Spent last night finishing side missions and unlocking the stuff in the terminal. Played my first game of last stand last night. Had no idea what I was going, at one stage I was on a roof fighting some purple and yellow bar enemies. Got a classified gear set item for my troubles though and another 2 classifieds dropped from faffing about with the side missions. Finally had a look at my gear and tried to equip matching sets. Ended up with 4 x predators mark and 2 x Alpha bridge. I need to try out different talents and weapons. I haven't deviated at all from AR + sniper with pulse and turret.

I have a 4xpred and 2xd3 bits which works quite well in PVE.
I use 4xnomad and 2xaplha as well and thats a nice build for keeping the health up

I have no full classified sets yet

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

I feel bad now for deleting classifieds to make room in the stash :)

It really requires a fair bit of grinding to get classifieds outside of the Global Events. I did it on the Striker, Final Measure and Sentry but am missing a couple of pieces on the Lone Star, which is annoying me more than I care to admit.

On the other sets I have a lot of duplicates (as I was around for their GEs), many with terrible rolls but I'm inclined to hold onto them in case they change something.

Just got to the boss in the Lexington Centre and I'm getting slaughtered. Can't wear down the two bodyguards before they cream me, there's a lot going on. Any solo strategies folks, or am I better off trying the level on matchmaking?

Deffo match make you wont be able to do it solo first time around. Matchmaking in the Division is one of the best features its very easy to do. Im normally a solo dude myself but the Division was the one game I had great fun teaming up with lads.

Oh if you think that's hard, wait till you get the Russian Consulate......:P:P:P

Actually thats one thing I really liked about divisions so called story mode and journey to level 30. I expected wow overpowered leveling grind, but got a very challenging experience, which was teaching me to get better at game.

As a fresh player to Division who had a journey to 30 just last week or so, I may give you a bit of advice, but take it for whats its worth to you. It worked for me. I soloed all story stuff.
That first aid shot with overpodose is a life saver. For second skill I would get turret. Even if does not do much damage, it is great to throw it on the sides of enemies where you can't reach them directly. If it not kills them, it makes them move around. Super handy and I used those skills up to 30.
Get medical wing stuff updated do get its ultimate ability. Its a damn life saver.
Upgrade security wing to get better weapons vendor. It gives way better selection and qualify of guns.
Dont go all stingy with credits. Use them. Dont bother with dismantling stuff, just sell it. I found very little use for crafter gear as I would outlevel it, before I can even make it.
Dont bother with tech and try load on toughness in gear.
It goes without saying, but do every little mission you come across. Jist do it. Extra recourses for wings and cash will be very handy.
Focus on smgs and assault rifles. A handy thing will be to find a good bolt action sniper. Use it from distance to thin out heard and then go full ghetto on their arses.

If you insist on doing it solo. I would suggest this fool proof method

    b_1_q_0_p_0.jpg?u=http%3A%2F%2F37.media.tumblr.com%2Ftumblr_m0u4w1O6K41qmb7u4o8_400.gif&q=0&b=1&p=0&a=1

The snipers will be your biggest threat so you need to take them out asap.

After that just constantly kite the heavies and try hit their weak points, once they get staggered lay into them.

Barett is easy enough after that. Cover and pew pew pew

Thats very true, mobility is the key to it and always do circles around heavies. The thing I never use that is great against heavies - granades.

:D:D:D That's exactly how I felt when I seen the heavy dudes come at me. Think I spent too much time focusing on them to even pay attention to the snipers. Presume the weak point on those heavies is their fat heads.

Snipers first so and run like a crazy person.

Thanks for the advice, good to hear it from someone fresh through the campaign. Definitely finding it very challenging since I levelled in the late teens. Even running to a mission you can start to tackle a couple of stragglers and next thing your surrounded by level 20 dudes, and those pr!cks with the shotguns

I think if I'm going to solo this I need to better equip myself so I'll hit the special weapons vendor and look at abilities I have equipped too. Have a turret and riot shield equipped at the moment and finding the shield pretty much useless at this point as once an enemy flanks you, which is very common, its pretty much a wasted special. Will equip overdose thingy and see how that works.

Primary is an auto rifle and using a marksman rifle to soften dudes up before close quarters but rifle is having little effect on the bodyguards in that mission.

What's the ultimate ability you mentioned for the Medical Wing? I think I need to start paying more attention to perks and such.

I'm trying to concentrate my build on toughness and firepower secondary. I'm only just level 20 so might come back to the mission in another level or 2.

You definitely don't get away with much in this game which is good but sometimes it makes me want to go smashy smashy with the joypad

Lex was way harder than the consulate! Barely time to think or recover and nowhere to hide.

Shield is worthless on solo story missions. As others have posted, health stats, boosts, and skills are vital. If you're sniping, headshots, headshots, headshots. If you don't make them, sniping is not going to help you. For shotgunners, grenades and explosives are massively helpful.

I will just say this: who ever designed Rikers shotgun npc, has a special place in hell. I hate them with passion.
Believe it or not, there is a wave in resistance that consists only of riker shotgun dudes. Thats is wave 17 and thats the furthest I ever sow resistance content. Its just stupid how they can mince you.

I can still remember my first run through the Russian Consulate I nearly got PTSD off it.. I don't know how many hours it took me a couple of randoms( 3-4 hours) and then finally after getting to the final boss at the end, I fell through the map :eek::eek::eek: my life flashed before my eyes after spending 3 hours to get to him and to have it all thrown away. Luckily I got back some how think I had to quit and get re-invited but then run all the way through the building again hoping the lads wouldn't die.

Ah they were good times though met a lot of people teaming up:D I ploughed some amount of hours into this game. Havent played it for about 9 months now at least, but had a go tonight dont know have I the will power to relearn all the new stuff.

You know how I was moaning that no exotics drop for me? Well after work I played 2 Resistance games and got 3 exotics. :pac:

Some double barrel, then something based on scar, marksman rifle, pretty sure it was mentioned here and lastly revolver. Sorry, camt remember their names, its late and I had 12h work shift today too.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

Cassidy is the shotgun. Supposed to be pretty good but I don't use it. Tenebrae is the sniper it was mentioned a few posts back and has an interesting exotic perk. Revolver could be the golden rhino, heard a rumour before if you have this equipped the enemy focus on you, which is something you don't want on round 8 of resistance :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,409 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

also I will no longer abide by any dissing of the marvellous shield. It's a defensive talent. There's nearly always somewhere in a mission you can retreat to for safety, the number of times the marvellous shield has allowed me to retreat to said safe position and heal is uncountable (well probably hundreds of times). Use in conjunction with the support station which you can explode (by pressing whatever button you have it assigned to again) for a burst heal, to yourself and the shield.

Found that to be hardest level on my play-through. I ended up going to the balcony, toss down a turret (flame works good) on one of the raised platforms below. one of the bodyguards (or both if you are lucky) will try and destroy it. So you can toss a grenade or 2 on top of them. Eventually they will come up the stairs, concentrate on killing one of them and use the back rooms for cover. Try not to ADS too much, yer wan will be peppering you with grenades.

    You are spot on.

Tried Cassidy and it was really really meh. To its defence I dont have optimised skills for shotguns, but it was just bad.
The Tenebrae on the other hand is really good. I have it as back up for resistance when I run out of bullets on main weapons. I found 4 pieces of deadeye and I am very very tempted to make some build with it.
Does rhyno really puts so much aggro on you just being equiped?!?! I dont want that and I sold my old sidearm! I tried googling it, but nothing came up.

I optimised my gear a bit. Now using 4 piece predator and 2 piece striker. That extra stability makes a huge difference. Controlling recoil on controller is a bitch, but I am getting the hang of it.
