Galway Regatta Sunday 16th June

Was told that in the past this event was a rival to the races in size and importance to the city? Thinking of heading down to investigate. Anybody have any experience of previous regattas and what should i expect? Thanks in Advance.

It was, but maybe a hundred years ago.

Still interesting to watch but not really a great spectator sport unless you know some of the people involved.
