YES !! Somehow I got an email from gamestop telling me at my order is shipped !! So delighted, I ordered on the 25th of November, and just a week ago I got an email saying that the console will only arrive early January.

    Thursday delivery, please? :)

A second hand electrical (Pawn) shop in Stillorgan shopping centre is selling PS4's for €595 for solo's and Knack or Killzone for €50

Looks like like they got their greedy little hands on a load of bundles and broke them down for max profits!
Shame on Stillorgan shopping centre for letting leeches like this trade on their property.

Was in Gamestop today to pick him up some accessories and was talking to the manager. They had quite a few from people who didn't pick them up due to not being able to afford them or getting the XBox instead. Guy said and I quote.... "those fools....good things come to those who wait, we've had a few XBox complaints and wanted to trade in one for the other" he also said they're expecting a few last minute ones to arrive tomorrow or Monday so there might be a christmas wishes coming true! Xtra Vision have some XBoxes available online too.

    Assassins creed 4 ps4 for €26
Buy €50 psn card on adverts for €39
Download assassins creed 4 on ps3 special 48hour deal €26.99
Turn on ps4 upgrade to ps4 version for €9.99
So €39 spent and still €13 credit left on psn
    Great deal
If you don't still have your ps3 it can be done on pc or ipad using the psn store

I don't understand the indignation. The company spent the time to pre-order, something those without one now didn't bother with. Now people want a console before christmas and as in everything its about supply and demand. The shop can sell them for whatever they feel they will get for them, it is up to the consumer to decide if the extra money is worth all the hassle saved.

It's annoying for sure that people have what you want and want to make additional money from it but hardly a cause for getting the shop shut down.

Just leave them stuck with a load of overpriced PS4s. They're no better than scalpers on adverts etc.

It's up to people not to buy them, then it won't haooen again, I see a load on adverts still haven't sold because they're so overpriced, people will get what they deserve in the end

Pre-ordered from Gamestop, not in too much of a rush but any idea how long it could take?

  • Registered Users Posts: 15,662 ✭✭✭✭Leroy42

on another point, I think it crazy that shops like gamestop etc only get in the stock they have received pre-orders for. Obviously there is a limit on the available stock but places like that know that there are many more people who don't pre-order that will be looking for them.

It a little too convienent that they receive the exact amount of stock to cover all pre-orders by a certain date but can't guarantee after that. Seems like Sony and the shops like to play the game to generate even more demand, press & PR. While I understand that from Sont what purpose does it do for Gamestop et al?

There are plenty of additional sales which they are missing out on. They are a computer games store yet it seems that even BT could cover later preorders thay they could and I would question the point of a specialist store if at the very moment of the highest demand they are totally out of stock and are proving to be no better at getting the stock than anyone else.

Why not simply put in an order for double the number of pre-orders, and then be the place that all parents etc go to before christmas and in so generate additional console sales, game sales and a new customer base?

The stock is limited by MS / Sony therefore they sell the amount they have been told they can get on pre order

They get the first wave of stock, they can ask for double but the wont get it as there simply isn't enough to go round.

Sometimes they might get lucky and more stock is made available pre xmas as has happened this year, then other retailers can get their hands on stock such as BT did

The stock situation is a moving feast and literally changes by the hour

They are given a quota by Sony and then divide it between the stores, they barely had enough to fill half their launch day pre-orders, so it is not some PR stunt to drum up more sales, they do not ask for a set number, they are given a set number and they have to make do with it.

Over in the US, Gamestop still had over 2 million people waiting on pre-order after launch day. BT got 200 consoles in for sale, my Gamestop had at one point close to 400 people on the pre order list and it is not one of the big stores.

Jaysus everywhere is sold out! I've called everywhere I can think of, but there are none left and no one seems to have any idea when they will be back in stock. Any ideas of somewhere in the Dublin area that has any?

I thought the cex price would come down straight after Xmas. 550 for a 2nd hand ps4 no thanks.

Have to say their trade in value on games and stuff is excellent though

if it's to be believed, alot of them aren't even second hand cos they were never opened. people who could get their hands on them were buying them for €400 in other places and cex were paying the people more than that to trade them in so they could make a few quid off desperate parents.

As i said, only rumour. But they are some shower if it's true

I'd say your spot on. It's does look as though something dodgy is going on. I doubt many would be trading in ps4s so quickly(and every shop looks to have at least one).

If a person wanted rid they could easily have sold for more than the rrp. I was thinking of trading in my 3ds and few games to get a bit off a ps4 but as it stands I'd only be getting it down to the original 400 price.

The CEX in Wexford has a as they claim brand new unused PS4 on sale but its out of the box which to me means its second hand but they are charging 550 should be around 300 to 350 atleast.

Some of the PS4's traded in, were in fact never opened. I saw 2 people a week before Christmas in CEX, Limerick, Cruises ST, trading in brand new ones for 520 cash which they paid 400 for. They were both bought in Gamestop the same day!!. In order for CEX to take it in, the customer simply has to break the seal on the box and take the PS4 out, thereby making it 2nd hand as CEX officially only buy 2nd hand goods. I hung around and witnessed all this. Both PS4's were sealed and unused. CEX staff member will then test it and box it back up so technically it's then used as that point. It doesn't matter to them if the PS4 was a month old or a day old, they were still paying 520 a week before Christmas and selling for 590.

As regards them selling brand new ones, I heard one of the staff members commenting on how he personally bought 4 from different Gamestops that week and had brought them into the shop to put on sale. He was asking one of the customers who was selling his PS4, if he knew where he could get more. Also a manager in a local Gamestop commented to me about CEX staff coming into his store asking to buy multiple PS4's. So yeah, I guess they could be selling new ones also, unless they also open them up to test.
