Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

It's probably a bit late for many people, but I have some unused seed potatoes if anyone wants them (in East Cork).

    Hi ya,

I'd love to take them off your hands... is there any way you could post them up to me? I'd cover the cost of postage if it isn't too much hassle for you.

I'm only just starting to try growing some veg from home and had the idea of growing some potatoes and carrotts in containers. I know it's late in the year, but it's really just a trial for next year while I work on getting my garden sorted out.

    P.S. I'm in Meath.

Its not too late, especially if you use bags

That was my plan alright, I have a LOT of prep work to do in my garden. It's not that I have 5ft weeds or anything, I have a blank canvas to work on, but the soil quality is just horrendous. It's heavy and clay like, its always wet, it waterlogs in heavy rainfall and is horrible even to walk on. So I want to draw up a garden plan and try get pieces done at a time. My main priority is trying to repair my soil. Hopefully have a nice lawn to show for it and have some container veg aswell as some raised beds by this time next year. Problem is I dont even know where to start with the soil repair. I'm completely new to all of this. I'm in a new build 5 years now, so God only knows what I'll find if i start digging. :(

I'm not sure. It'll be my 1st attempt at growing potatoes. Would 6 or 7 be enough for a trial run?

Thanks for looking into it by the way.

3 per bag works out best.
You can get the bags from the €2 euro shop
You should get about 10-15 good ones but man, they taste so good

Re soil. Double digging is probably the only non mechanical way
dig in a lot of sand.
Don't bother with top just yet, it will get washed away. You might even have to lay drainage pipes. Google is your friend
Your doing the right thing breaking it up into small parts.
    Everything starts from a plan
