Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Sold out in 45 mins?

F**k me, an Irish WCQ would do well to sell out fully, let alone say 45 mins.

My brother managed to get a premium ticket this morning do he's pretty excited about that. Incredible how quickly ticket master sold their ticket allocation.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,064 ✭✭✭poundhound

Gotta say €120 for 2 tickets to a pre-season game is ridiculous.

I turned down premium seats and plan on availing of tix through the Liverpool site tomorrow.

I got 4 and my brother got 3, now we shall re-sell them and use our profits to buy tickets in the Sligo Rovers annual draw. Thank you barstoolers for supporting Irish football!

take a look at international attendances around europe and you will see that ours are as good as any when you look at population size.

only 6 or 7 countries average better attendances than ours and most of them have populations (france, germany, Poland,England etc etc) than are muliple times that of ours.

the likes of italy and Croatia would love to be getting 30k for bottom tier teams and 35k for 4th seeds like we are getting. we had as people at the faroes game as they had at their first two home games.

I think our average is 3rd best, I'm not knocking the average at all, for the main games the ECQ and WCQ its nearly always up and around 90% + full.

Our attendance figures are slightly disingenuous because they count season tickets holders who are no shows (the same as Premier League clubs). There wasn't actually 30k at the Faroes game.

Do Italy, Croatia etc have season tickets or do they only count bums on seats? If it's the latter then that explains a lot of the difference.

    Why are people surprised?

Liverpool and Celtic rarely play in Ireland and even rarer that they'll play each other!

It would be like Eric Clapton and Bruce Springsteen doing a gig together and it selling out then complaining that local bands like aslan aren't selling out.

Truth is watching Ireland play is sh!t, and watching LOI is even worst!

Because it's a pre-season friendly. The stadium was half-empty for the Dublin Super Cup, which had Celtic, Inter and Man City; I assumed it would be the same this time around. I was stunned at how hard it was to get decent tickets this morning

Supply and demand, they could probably charge €200 and "The Best Fans in the World" would avail of this excellent bandwagon opportunity!

Anyone know just what's up for decision anyway?

In fairness though, with Liverpool not having any European away games this year, there are most likely plenty of local Liverpool fans who got tickets and will come over for the piss-up.

With Celtic not playing Rangers this season will Liverpool be the biggest Protestant club they play this year??

There could be trouble at this one.
