If you don't mind me asking are you doing it to learn computer basics or are you just looking for the cert?

if its the cert you are after you might want to aim higher and maybe look at the advanced options available to you, the ECDL was (and still is) a great base for learning but when it comes to real world working it isn't great on a CV or in an interview as most people will have equivilant or higher.

I recommend maybe looking into the Microsoft Masters courses that are about. I done it as part of a FAS course and i think it's cheaper than the ECDL too (although i think there was either a promotion or a deal on at that time)

Download the material for free.....the cert won't get you much.

If it is for your own personal knowledge, there are plenty of copies of it online.

im looking for it for the cert for a cv to be honest and its mainly just to keep me movitated and keep my brain active

honestly like i said it doesn't really. If you have basic computer abilities you pass. Aim higher.

through fas you can do

MS Office Specialist (EXCEL Core) - Evenings

MS Office Specialist (Word Core) - Evenings

Which would be slightly more advanced than ECDL and skip the really basic stuff.

They also do web stuff if that interests you

Web Design - Evenings

through rossan you can

System Software

Networking Essentials

Computer Programming – Introduction to Java Development

all the Rossan ones will cost you but would leave you with a more better chance at getting a specialist job.

It only looks good on a CV when applying for a very basic secretarial role. It is not a computer qualification.

There are practice tests and the entire syllabus available free from the ECDL organisation themselves, the test can be done without training. It is ridiculously easy, if you can use boards, you'll pass it.

Not for the free ones, no. They're non-credit.

There are online credited courses available but you have to pay (obviously).
