He declared "pan pan" about 7 min ago

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

Looks like he's about to make his approach now, looks like EIN64W is planning to divert...

  • Moderators, Education Moderators Posts: 26,403 Mod ✭✭✭✭Peregrine

Yeah hydraulic problem. Runway has to be inspected after landing so there will be delays.

64W has been holding for a long time, where did he say he was diverting to?

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

Just said they're considering diverting, they'll probably have a bit extra fuel in the tanks due to the weather anyways, but 2 rounds of the hold so far, almost 3, and he'll still have to wait for a runway inspection, and possibly the aircraft being towed off the runway...

Looks like NWS isn't working and they're just using differential braking.

Jesus this would be great to have on the day. I'll be on a balcony looking over the Liffey with my laptop.

I was offered a seat on 1 of the display aircraft...but then I wouldn't get to see the Vulcan.

Sorry but its gotta be done.

Final result its 6-4: For keeping the Op's freq.
Its a new feed so lets let it settle for a few weeks then I will ask again.

    Yes Keep it:
    Shamrock231
    Razor44
    B757
    Andy g
    Nimrod 7
    Treadhead

    No Lose it:
    Crosstownk
    Martinsvi
    Lord Lucan
    Xpro

We have been up and running for a while now, any informed (as in regular listener) input as to what freq need to be dropped, or is everyone happy enough?

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

I'm pretty happy with the ops frequency, you'd miss out on a lot of the background info it it wasn't there so I'd say keep it. Clearence Delivery might be nice, but probably would crowd it a bit at times.

118.500 clearance is in the mix maybe your talking about something I dont know about?

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

I don't think it is, maybe I'm wrong, I'll listen in and see sure... I usually only listen at night, so rarely are people getting clearances...

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

    My bad, apologies.

Just wanted to say a quick thank for hosting these - have spent many an hour listening to them when I should have been doing something more constructive......

Just listening in and one of the Ryanair crews said: "There's no one here to pick us up, and none of us are able to drive, can you send someone down from crew control to pick us up?" Do crews usually get picked up by a bus or something from the plane? Do they not have to clear passport controls and customs like everyone else or did I interpret that incorrectly?

Thanks for the info, do they just get dropped to the passport/customs section, or can they just stroll home once their finished? Sounded a bit odd to me. Thanks for the info.

You see quite a number of small vans outside the FR HQ building. The crew check-in and do briefings in HQ/Ops area. They then use the bus to transport themselves to their aircraft. An inbound crew can usually take the outbound crews bus back to HQ. Both in and out of airside locations FR crews clear security and customs checks.
