Did the controller just say no ILS and the DAP VOR is U/S?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 726 ✭✭✭Shamrock231

What's VOR? Visual only? Was the ILS knocked out?

I have Locked out that damaged transmitter as they are also using a standby freq

There's still occasional lightning in the vicinity of the airport, I wouldn't like to be going to work outside near any antenas. Hopefully the tech guys can fix it from a computer :)

It basically provides lateral guidance only, and I think the DUB VOR also provides DME (distance measuring equiptment)as well.

    RWY16 for EIN58R

Into DUB on a VOR APP to RWY 34 16 as the ILS is U/S following a lightning strike and there's a manual reset needed on it which can't be done in lightning...

I think this is the start of a long night in Dublin, a Ryanair 737 just went around due to losing sight of the runway at 300 feet

Runway 28, landing from the East yeah.

Runways are usually it's direction in degrees from the nothern vertical divided by 10. Runway 28 is 280 degrees, runway 16 is 160 degrees and so on.

I wasn't listening on frequency, was the a comment actually made by the flight crew?

Can't remember the exact phrase now, but it was a bit more professional, went like:

Ryr: "Ryr abc going around, we cannot accept these winds"
Twr(miliseconds later): "Ryr abc, cleared to land, wind 280 @ 10"
Ryr: "Okay, right, that's fine, we're landing then."

Anyone hear- emergency at EIDW 18:55- Callsign American 91.. heard the pilot requesting emergency services to inspect the aircraft with infrared equipment?

EDIT: he is looking for heat / smoke from fuselage. Smoke reported by 6 personnel in the Cabin- "Hot electrical smell"

No further issue and is taxing to gate.

Fair bit of bad weather going on right now at Dublin, Windshear on the approach to 28 with pilots reporting a 12 knot loss of airspeed and looking out my window there's some massive CBs all over the place.

The last three or four aircraft took off from 28 and immediately turned left heading 160. I've only see Aer Arann ATRs do that.

Yup, just landed. Is that a scheduled route?

Their website says they only fly LCY-EDI but then again it also says they don't fly to CDG from DUB..
