in fairness - 35000 is a ****ty amount , you'd hardly get a living wages off that.
calling "success" is a bit of a misnomer.

AFAIK 35k is the threshold for services. The sale of goods figure is over 2x that.

Plus for a UK company there's no real marginal cost to selling goods into Ireland.

Small shipping and admin charge, but A LOT of profit to be hand for very little effort.

It's 35k (or perhaps 70k) worth in the Irish market, not the company whole. It's probably a fair assumption that its UK market is 10 times the Irish market. So 35k here is probably means a turnover of 3-4 million. For a web based company, with minimal overheads, and a ridiculously simply operation, I'd consider that pretty successful.

calling "success" is a bit of a misnomer.
I was really just using the phrase "vicitim of their own success", saying there are downsides to getting anyway big.

    http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/vat/leaflets/distance-sales-eu.html
    Thresholds

Under the EU VAT arrangements, Member States were required to adopt a distance sales threshold of either €35,000 or €100,000. Ireland has opted for €35,000.

The value of distance sales of excisable goods should not be taken into account for the purposes of determining whether or not the threshold has been exceeded. If the threshold, excluding the value of excisable goods, is not exceeded the supplier may continue to account for VAT in the Member State from which supplies are made.

There is no threshold for excisable products. Any supplier who makes distance sales of excisable goods e.g. alcohol, tobacco and oil to another Member State must register and account for VAT in that Member State. The sale of excisable goods are always subject to VAT in the Member State of arrival.

I'm donating platelets tomorrow for the first time, and am wondering if anyone knows whether or not it'd be okay to exercise afterwards?

It was on channel 5 a while back. A man loses weight by consuming nothing but vegetable juice for a few weeks, following the chrony/calorie restriction for longevity guidelines. It was an interesting documentary, medics showed that different health markers related to his autoimmune condition improved. It's a pretty extreme measure to take going on a VLCD, at least he had medical guidance throughout but he shows interviews with various other people that joined in his quest that didn't seem to have any medical support at all which wasn't a great impression to give I thought.

He seems to be learning the hard way that you can't just go around calling people drug cheats and get away with it.
In Ireland as well as the UK (where he is being sued), people have the right to their good name and not be libelled or slandered.

What he's trying to point out is that basically it doesn't matter if he was right or wrong all it takes is someone with a bigger bank roll and then you can't afford to fight it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,676 ✭✭✭✭Alf Veedersane

Overhand is more upper back and you'll lift a little less weight because the biceps aren't worked as much as supinated. Supinated hits the lats a little more than upper back as well.

Who sits atop the league table at the minute?

Its a hard choice but of late Estonia has been doing it for me. Good mix of Russian and Nordic genetics. Fat shaming is a public sport over there too.

Ireland is circling bottom three just slightly ahead of England and Scotland.

Edit: A look at history would prove me right. The vikings came to Ireland from the land of hot Scandinavian women to rob our women. Says a lot now some people might say they took all the hot ones but personally I'm more in favour of the the introduction of the potato being the down fall of the Irish race. If we could move back to a diet of beef and butter like or celtic forebears then we'd see a return to our hot genetic roots [/imnotahistorian]

    Lads,

I hate to be a party pooper *, but can we lay off with the chat about relative sexiness of Irish women, the longing to hold certain ladies down, the lusting after Russian female powerlifters etc. . It really doesn't foster a welcoming environment.

There's already a perception that H&F is a male dominated arena, both on boards and out there in the real world. It would be great if we didn't reinforce that.

    Thanks
    Brian

I meant hold down the one on the right in the same way you would hold down a job. As in: have a long term, fulfilling, life affirming relationship with her.

Some people just have sick minds and read what they please.

    Stop being anti-Viking, emmet.

I'm not anti viking. I shared a room with one in Uni. If you see the sweden thread in AH you'll see the main thing being swedes are a bit dry sh!teish. I found the opposite to be true you just need to pour a heroic amount of captain morgan into them and they become great craic.
