Ah listen.....after high box squatting against bands in Limerick last year before worlds I learned a lot! Also learned how to make your squat weak as piss!

Brought my stance in this year and worked a treat but the stance I'm talking about now is literally barely shoulder width apart (guess that's wide as I'm a wide ass truck!!! lol)

But I've learned a lot over last 2 years re: tech etc which I'm very happy about and if anyone has questions I'd be glad to help etc.

Just spent the last few hours catching up here, and I've just realised I should've rang the vet an hour ago, probably should check to see if the cat's still alive after his surgery.

:( Last couple days I've been eating junk food and not exercising and kind of fallen out of my routine! Was using Krav Maga as a motivator to get into good shape to make my kicks and punches stronger and it has been brilliant for keeping me focusing outside of class! Just going to have to pull my socks up and pick myself up where I left off!:)

It's amazing what drinking more water does for your skin, convinced my skin looks loads better since I started making the conscious effort to drink more water! What helps when I get cravings for something sweet is exercise videos on Youtube!:pac:

ZuzkaLight (she seems like such a lovely person and her exercise videos are great :) I feel) usually makes me put the chocolate bar down :pac:, watching her hop around the place makes me feel lazy and fat!:p I don't want to be quite as toned as her, but just have some definition in my arms, legs and stomach so her workouts are good!

    Which videos ;)
Now I feel sad she was such a nice woman!

Just cause she did porn in an earlier life hardly makes her a bad person, poor life choice granted, but you shouldn't let that prevent her being a source of motivation to you. Ya could look at it like this, it must have been tough for her to build a new career away from porn, although she did only become a huge YouTube star by wearing really skimpy stuff and kinda selling her body... again, so......nevermind

There is a one day course in Cork in January or February in the gym I go to. I'll get more details. I think it's about €150 for the day.

    Too fast off the floor.

    Not a great start position.

    Back angle changes.

    Bar out in front.

    Why ya pausing?

    ...they were my initial thoughts.

    In sentence format;

You're "crowding" the bar a bit. Back's quite rounded and it's a bit too close to your shins.

As you stand up, your back angle changes because of the start position. Shouldn't really happen until the bar starts to pass your knees. Maybe start wit the bar over the base of the big toe next time.

It loops in, and then loops out again cos you never extended fully. Try to keep the bar as close your body as possible, grazing your t-shirt almost

I'd try "jumping off your heels". Sounds weird, but forces you to extend properly.

You should probably jump/extend a little bit later than you think you should too. THat usually helps.

Mellor, I think you could justify a coaching session or two, and also use it to get some ideas on progressive programming (working from the hang, below the knee, etc).

I wasn't aware it needs to be slow off the floor tbh.

Not sure what the issue is with rounded back. Usually pretty good in that regard for other lifts.

In slow motion, hips rise faster than shoulders. Fixing this fixes back angle, right?

I tried to set up with the bar over toe/foot joint. But maybe I lined it up wrong.

    Em, what pause?
When I catch, that wasn't intentional. Was just steading myself. Technically that was a 2.5kg PR.

I'll try jumping off heels instead toes next time.

In my head I know I should extend when the bar hits my hip crease, but in never pans out like that once it goes about warm up weights.

I think I'd like that. Small bit of coaching to get the kinks out. Maybe hit semi-decent PR.
The issue is fitting it in. Especially come jan, no idea what strength training I'll be doing tbh.

Came across a nice looking recipe for protein pancakes the other day and one of the ingredients was oat flour. I presume it's lower gi and higher fiber than white flour and that's why it's used.

Anyway, does such a thing exist in Irish shops or is there another flour I should use instead?

Just blend oats and you have oat flour.

You could just put porridge in a food processor.

Ive been meaning to try and make homemade "Ready Brek" Which is 60:40 rolled oats / oat flour

I got a giant bag of oat flour from MP as a free gift a while ago which is handy for oat pancakes
Before that it was oats in the blender all right

I have made pancakes with just standard oats, they come out a bit lumpy of course but some might like the texture, if you leave them soak overnight it liquidises better.

Tesco have an own brand version of ready brek, I have a pack and have yet to make pancakes with it. I plan on not blending it.

Are you not using eggs? I usually make pancakes with oats+eggs+drop of milk+whey. Add greek yogurt/quark/peanut butter/honey =Nom

I do indeed, by "just standard oats", I really meant the oats are not blended, not that its the only ingredient besides water or milk.

Whey powder can be used as an egg substitute too, there are recipes online about how much to use in place of eggs in baking. Pancakes are very forgiving though so I don't pay attention to the ratios I use.

I also put coconut flour in the pancakes sometimes. I like maple syrup on top. I sometimes put cocoa in the mix too.

52.5kg. I've only snatched a handful of times, and never been shown how tbh.

Tighten the back off the floor. I can't see it but I have a feeling your stance might be a shade narrow. Your shoulders should be slightly in front of the bar and the bar should be away from the shins (over the midfoot/toe knuckle).

bar comes back in on the first pull... this is good

Back angle rises too much... bad (Edit, in slow motion it doesn't look too bad)

You're just about getting it into your hips but not really extending upwards.

"stay over it" longer, you're driving your knees under and opening up the back angle as soon as the thing gets above the knees, try to delay this for another 3 or 4 inches.

Arms are bending too early, keep 'em locked out until your pull is finished

Your knees and hips are not locking out on extension.

the catch is soft, drive yourself under the bar by locking out the shoulders.

I reckon you need to practice snatching from the hip and work your way down as you perfect each stage. It looks like the whole movement is being executed with your back rather than hips+legs.

I'll do some witchcraft on it in a mo to show you...

Not too bad though... Find a better gym!

Not sure others will see much difference in these but I've definitely noticed change in the past 6/7 weeks.

First photo I'm 68.1kg and the last I'm 71.5kg. Plan on doing another 6 weeks of GVT to get to 74/75kg.

Anyone here train in Anatomical Fitness Castleknock?

A vid has just some across my facebook news feed showing this chap half squatting 100kg about to be folded in half by the bar.

Claims of 6kg muscle gain in a month as well.

This is the kinda **** that ruins good, solid PT businesses. Perversely, it probably gains them short term but ****s them long term.

I know this kind of stuff has been mentioned here before but just having a rant.
