Two tickets for Jake Bugg... I win :P Fair enough, they're in no way elusive (the second night is yet to sell out like) but I still win >.> :P

The good tickets are all gone though, I checked this morning. :( Ah well, no one was gonna go with me anyway...

Neighbour was a happy man so. Best feeling when ya get a live one, but the worst feeling is when ya lose one. Shur that's how it goes I suppose!

The more I think about it, the less I want to go away from the farm to go to college :/

Only takes an hour and a half to get to Dublin in the car :P

You could come down here instead :P
How many sets of twins have ye had Dan?

Nearly always seem to get at least one set per year for as long as I can remember. This year we only had one set and the mother attacked me father. She hadnt enough milk for the 2 of them so one of them was reared by hand

I see your lurking around the farming and forestry aswell corvo haha

Wish I could hibernate now until Wednesday. Hate waiting!

If there alive and healthy it's an extra animal which means more money!

Can be a bit of a pain in the arse if the mother hasn't enough milk but hey, better than a dead calf!

This spring is probably goin to be our last time calving sucklers

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,446 ✭✭✭Corvo Attano

It take a lot out of the mother and its a struggle to keep them going if the mother isnt big.

Our last set this year were lucky to be born to the strongest cow on the farm and shes fit to support both but the last two sets were a nightmare.

Its probably our last year for sucklers too. Just no money in them.

No money to be made in them at all, ya would struggle to pay the bills with them. Are ye heading to milk?

Nah too small for that here. The plan is to buy fresh stock every year, raise 'em and sell em on.

Cut out the mothers and the cost of the winter.

We established this early in the thread. If me and Dan are left alone you get farm talk. Add Nim for rugby.

Looks like well be goin into partnership with the neighbour. All is needed is a few more cows and a few cubicles to put in. Farms are already interlinked as he's renting land off us atm. With the land we have atm looking at bout 360 milking cows
