This one is a serious question now

    Which would you rather prevent..

    The Holocaust

    or

    9/11 ?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,207 ✭✭✭decisions

    Would you rather:

1- have no hands just stumps (apologies to anyone reading this whose already in this situation, didn't mean to offend)

2- that every thought in your head would be visible for anyone to see, all of your thoughts, every single one all of the time
The second option would be very very bad for me, I struggle to keep my mouth shut as it is. I can only imagine the trouble I would get myself in, in 10min never mind the rest of my life. The psych ward would be the only place for me.

    Mine don't make sense

It would just be a movie with like a muffin or something chasing me with a gun

Not much if a vet if your willing to kill an innocent young animal by your own hand.

A good vet would never kill, only if it was doomed a slow and painful death, so!

    You'll never be a vet.

More people suffered as a result of the 1st one, 9/11 was a terrible act but the holocaust was worse.

Edit: but both are very distant to me, it's very easy to make that rational decision sitting here, but if someone I knew died or something I knew very well was destroyed, I would choose to prevent that every time regardless of how insignificant it may be in the grand scheme of things.

I was living in NY at the time.

I never meant it wasn't awful but on a scale of 1-10 between it and Holocaust I don't even think it gets on the scale.

3000 Americans for 13.9 million+ Jews, Soviets, Poles, POW's, ect

The Americans paid that on Omagh Beach

Stop what. Both were atrocious acts of the lowest where civilians were murdered.

The heinous part of 9/11 was the sheer disregard for who was there

The heinous part of the Holocaust was its systematic approach.

Holocaust 100%, in terms of numbers it is far greater. And also when you look back a bit on American policy in the Middle East in the decades leading up to 9/11 you can see they were not doing much to gain love and an attack was inevitable. Terrorist attacks on innocent people is never a good thing for humanity but when you compare the couple thousand or so who died in 9/11 to the millions who died due to American funded coups and arming of dictators in the Middle East it was sort of a small reprisal. Horrible situation which should not exist.

Yup if you detach yourself enough from your emotions.

Photographic memory is amazing and people live perfectly fine without forgetting things so.

if i had the ability to forget anything i wanted I'd find a way to screw up and forget important things

And if i had a photographic memory my brain would be full of useless nonsense i don't need!
If i wanted anything I'd like both to work in tandem with each other :D

Holocaust, based on total numbers, the protracted nature of the suffering, etc.
