That could be to do with the director and his Fast and the Furious connection.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking too. Maybe it'll grow on me.

Hopefully the shot of McAdam's arse has fulfilled the hbo sex scene stipulations

Plus, in this at least, she seems to have lost her looks.

    I almost wept.

It's almost like women age as time goes on. Or maybe actors don't have to always look the same despite playing different characters.

I'm presuming the skeleton is santa muerte. Don't remember her showing up in season 1

But lost the hotness of her Wedding Crashers prime. Im sure we'll see a True Detective/Wedding Crashers meme in weeks to come as both her and Vaughn starred in it.

She is sexier than ever imo. That poor guy in her house can't handle her - odds she bangs both Kitsch and Farrell by mid season, maybe even a hbo special three-way.

Watched the scene at ass-pen's house again and Farrell is basically playing what the real Christian Bale as Batman would be instead of the character Bruce Wayne in TDK!

    Characters were all too similar.
True, the three cops are all self destructive, troubled souls. Vaughan's character is the most controlled and measured, it's quite unnerving at times in fact - he's simply brilliant - little things like the nod after Farrell left his joint back in the flashback and the scene in the casino when he sees the newspaper article about the corruption and sets his aid straight. Farrell is running around beating guys up, but Vaughan is still far more intimidating in his demeanor.
VV wasn't in it long enough to merit any judgement. .
Thought he was fantastic. Stole the show for me, which wasn't easy with Farrell on form.

Just a question: the first shot of the land with all the little red flags planted on it? Graveyard (too poor for headstones?) Contaminated site? Any ideas?

Fully agree with the Vaughn praise. Thought he was outstanding, someone mentioned similar to Kingpin in Daredevil and I can see why. Personally think his career is going to be better than ever after this season.

In saying that, all 3, Farrell, Kitsch and McAdams were pretty freakin good aswell.

We're in for another treat of a season I feel.

    Uhhhh...nope.

I'm not getting sucked into more 'Yellow King' BS and elaborate theories regards the plot based on carefully placed easter eggs that, if season 1 is anything to go by, lead exactly nowhere and have little or no bearing on the plot. They add a nice texture to the production design and writing but ultimately, if that's all the teasing and hinting at deeper themes add up to then it's not worth over investing in them as many did during season 1.

I doubt it's any sort of influence to the direction of the plot, rather easter eggs for fans of the first season and just a nod to it. I don't think they will have anything to do with the actual plot.

Vaughn has an air of Christopher Walken about him I thought, plenty more to come from him. What is everyone giving out about McAdams ass shot? Thought it was nice :D

Is there any place to watch this with subtitles. There's just far too much mumbling in it.

The only bit I didn't catch was the bit where Vaughn was on about puttin his foot up caspers ass and then his PA said something about shoe laces?

I need to watch it with you then to get the translation. I am half way through episode 1 and too many "wtf did he/she say there?" moments! Season 1 was atrocious for the poor diction, particularly with Rusty. I know he was meant to be a bit of a drunk, but c'mon!

Anyone else notice McConnaughey was an executive producer for the show again this season? Noticed it in the opening credits.

No. Sky Atlantic. Surely I am not the only one that mentioned this?

Didn't think Vaughn stood out to be honest. His character is a former gangster turned businessman, but he doesn't have that air of believability or menace about him. I'm not sold on him to be honest, hopefully episode 2 will show that he can turn nasty and not be the Russian business partners lapdog.

I started watching it, then had to rewind it and put on the subtitles. I was missing half the dialogue. It's the same with Hannibal, I dunno if it's the tv or my hearing, or just the way it's meant to be.

First episode was promising. It lacks that wry humour from Woody, but still good. The Ass-pen scene was brilliant, I wonder how many parents have felt like doing the same. "Twelve years old, my ass. F**k you!".
